"His Punisher Is GOOD!" Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal Compare DAREDEVIL Experiences | INTERVIEW

Punisher and your daredevil could have gone toe-to-toe. Well, his Punisher is good Mr. Affleck, I'm gonna start with you I know that that we're getting this movie because for years fans have been asking for it and it makes sense because it's a world And it's a story that makes sense to continue. So I'm sort of curious over the years in the business What is the strangest request for a sequel that you've gotten from a fan or maybe from a studio rep that just made no sense? Whatsoever. I did once meet with somebody who asked me if we're gonna do a sequel to Good Will Hunting. Yeah, dude What about that? I was like, I don't know what that would be And I that that did not feel like a thing that made sense to me But you know, and maybe it says something I can't think of any other You don't think that could work. I feel like there's a whole other I'm kind of surprised that we never got I mean, obviously it makes sense as to why it never happened With knowing Hollywood, I'm surprised I never tried to pitch you guys on an Armageddon sequel like a second asteroid showing up You know Pearl Harbor turned out to be kind of an Armageddon sequel Uh, it wasn't intended to be that. Um, but then I halfway through I was like is this just Armageddon in World War 2? but Armageddon was a fun movie and Even though my kids like to watch it and go on and on about like the gaps in logic It was a very fun and great experience for me with I got I mean actors in it were fun And I have been a big Hollywood movie. I would have done ten Armageddons. I'm sure in a row, but no It's one of my all-time favorites And we got good while hunting to hunting season in a way because of Kevin Smith. Look at that I know you guys go through a lot of fight training to be able to pull off movies like this I'm so I'm always curious like how much those skills transfer into real life Like if you guys were at a bar and someone came in and tried to start shit Could you just scream the accountants and then remember all the moves that you were taught on this movie or any is any of the fighting? transferable at all well, John brings a lot of experience and training and I said something that he's kind of It's quite good at and box, you know set a box and all this stuff to it. So That's I imagine quite quite an asset. Yeah The fighting that I get in was mostly on the losing end and after a while I got tired getting punched in the face as a kid running home a lot house very small in a neighborhood where a lot of fighting and so I You know and then when I grew I grew about a foot in a year and then people just stopped starting fights with me which I was quite grateful to have happen and But you know, I'm I'm not like certainly look expert at that stuff for me You know I really have to try to like get a director to say like okay What are the actual sequence so that I can make each shot look convincing? But it's really fun to work with somebody like John who's just so ******* good at it that you know Yeah, I feel like by osmosis. It makes me look good and I'd hide behind him at a bar for sure Oh boy, I would too to be honest with you Chris Nolan haircut, I love it. Mr. Bernthal. I've got to tell you I truly believe that your performance as Frank as Frank Castle as the Punisher is one of the greatest comic book adaptation performances That's ever been put to film and I'm gonna be honest. This is a this is a true statement. Mr Affleck I grew up and loved your daredevil I honestly genuinely really did and I'm just sort of curious Do you guys ever think about maybe what it would like if your Punisher and your daredevil could have gone toe-to-toe? Well, his Punisher is good Which is what you know? That was daredevil was like kind of That was an interesting story, but we probably don't have time for but it was really like before Frankly, I think you know, Kevin Feige had stepped into the role of running Marvel and and really kind of He imposed a kind of clarity of tone Across those movies that like sort of figured out the trickiest thing Which is like how do you balance a movie? Where you got people wearing like, you know pajamas and have superpowers and how seriously do you take it and how much humor is in? It and how much can you wink at the audience? And what does the action have to look like it coincided with visual effects getting to a place where it could look really convincing And then it kind of made the way for you know for great actors like him to step into two roles and really like Get it done. There's a new daredevil. I haven't seen it yet. But I certainly I love the character. I wish the best and But I you know, I wouldn't I wouldn't I wouldn't tangle with his punishment fair enough Well, you're selling yourself short because the director's cut is is a fantastic film man And and I just I will always have your back on that gentleman. I I cannot thank you enough for these movies I genuinely would I don't I don't need good will hunting too, but I will take the account in three if you don't mind You got it, baby
