DIY Red, White, & Blue Patriotic Home Decor // Crafts for 4th of July & Memorial Day
Today we are making 2 patriotic crafts that would look adorable in your home. I was thinking about upcoming holidays & realized how many patriotic holidays there are in the U.S. during the summer—Memorial Day, Flag Day, Fourth of July, & Labor Day—and how red, white, & blue decor would be great to have out all summer long. Our first craft is fireworks made from pool noodles. I cut down one pool noodle into three pieces of varying heights—12,14, & 16 in. Then I hot glued a disk of card stock to the bottom in order to add a few rocks to weigh them down so the fireworks wouldn’t tip over easily. I used vinyl paper I got from the Dollar Tree to decorate the front of each pool noodle. Then I used pipe cleaners & the blue star from a balloon weight I also got at Dollar Tree to act as the spark coming out of the firework. I love how the fireworks are tall & don’t take up a lot of space on a table, so they can fit easily even on a small surface! The 2nd craft is a wood bead garland. I used wood beads I found in the jewelry section at Hobby Lobby & created a pattern with the varying sizes. Then I painted some of the beads red, white, & blue leaving the largest beads natural. I found a pack of wood stars at Walmart & used 1 for the end of the garland. I painted it Deep Navy Blue and once it was dry added the letters U.S.A. in white paint pen. For the other end of the garland, I made a tassel out of jute cord. Once the beads were dry, I strung them onto jute twine in the pattern I had created earlier. I added the Star & tassel to either end to finish it off. I love how the garland adds a little bit of Americana to any decor, & I can’t wait to use it to decorate my table!
