Shall we dance?
We're speaking to the lucky Army Sergeant
who danced with Melania Trump
at the Commander-in-Chief Ball on Inaugural Night.
All eyes were on the strapping soldier
who cut in on the President
and gave the First Lady a twirl.
He's Sergeant Henry Waller.
When I walked out on stage,
I was trying to contain my composure,
but we were told that it's not ceremonial composure.
We can smile if we want to,
and I was just overwhelmed with joy
The First Lady smiled broadly as they danced.
Did the First Lady say anything to you?
I asked her how her night was going.
She said it was going good.
She asked me how mine was.
I said it was fantastic.
Is the First Lady a good dancer?
Oh yeah, she's a really good dancer.
Did you get to rehearse?
The only rehearsing I did was back home
with my wife, dancing with her.
Hallelujah!
While Sergeant Waller danced with Mrs. Trump,
President Trump took a spin with Sergeant Tatiana Saldana
from the United States Space Force.
Vice President J.D. Vance and wife Usha
also switched dancing partners.
The Veep was joined by Staff Sergeant Lexus Martinez
of the United States Marine Corps.
Were you nervous?
I was very nervous
because I've never done anything like that before.
Is he a good dancer?
They're better than me, better than me.
I was so nervous, I probably looked like
I had two left feet.
Her boyfriend shot video of the priceless moments.
That's my girlfriend!
Usha tripped the light fantastic
with Petty Officer Emanuel.
Sergeant Waller's an honor guard
who can be seen at state funerals and White House arrivals.
He was also selected for his height.
He's six foot six.
