Feeling Oneness with Friends and Enemies
A man wants to know what he can do to stay in touch with the feeling of oneness he experienced while on retreat.
Rupert says: ‘Our primary activity should be to remain in touch with the peace of our being on the inside and to feel that we share our being with everyone and everything on the outside. If that’s our bottom line, then we can do whatever else is required of us in the world in terms of activities and relationships.
‘Practise this with people you like, people you feel neutral towards and people that dislike you or that are unkind or unjust. You don’t have to like their behaviour or the way they think, but feel that you share your being with them and, as such, you love them. You might not necessarily respond to them with a smile – their behaviour might require something a little more stringent. But even if it does, you still love them.’
