Sumatra, Indonesia, home to diverse wildlife with over 200 species of mammals and almost 600 species of birds, is facing a biodiversity crisis due to rapid economic development and deforestation. The Orangutan Conservation Program in Sumatra (SOCP) is working to save the last populations of wild Sumatran orangutans and fighting the cruel business of orangutan poaching.

Scientist Jean Lemire leads a crew aboard the oceanographic schooner Sedna IV on a 1,000-day journey that takes the team across Earth. Made up of mariners, scientists and filmmakers their goal is to reveal the planet's beauty and understand how Earth's ecosystems work. Together with other scientists and experts, the crew scale mountains, traverse rivers and dive into coral reefs to find some of the world's rarest and most threatened species.
