Exquisite and Elegant Style: Works of Renaissance Florence Artist Fra Filippo Lippi (1406–1469)

Fra Filippo Lippi was an outstanding Florentine artist of the Renaissance period. His works included frescoes, religious-themed narratives, and portraits. Contemporary Florentine poet Cristoforo Landino praised him as "courteous and refined, with exceptional artistic skills." His religious narrative paintings are rich in detail and meaning, with exquisite composition. The cover artwork is a detail from one of Lippi's representative works, *The Coronation of the Virgin*. Created in 1444, it measures 164 x 83 cm, painted in tempera on wood, and is housed in the third room of the Vatican Pinacoteca.
