Remarkable works of Eighteenth-century renowned Neoclassical painter Angelica Kauffmann (1741–1807)
Angelica Kauffmann was renowned for her grand historical and mythological paintings, and she was also one of the most popular portrait painters in 18th-century Europe. At the age of twelve, she began creating portraits for bishops and nobility. After moving with her family to Italy, she devoted herself fully to the study and creation of classical art. During her four years in London, she regularly exhibited her work at the Royal Academy of Arts. Upon returning to Italy, her art studio in Rome became a gathering place for European elites, with contemporary artists like Goethe holding her in high regard.
Kauffmann produced over 800 works during her lifetime. The featured painting portrays three children of a British aristocrat in an elegant group portrait. They are dressed in sophisticated clothing, set against an expansive landscape backdrop, each holding different objects.
