Astronauts Revealed why Prefer SpaceX Space Suits than Boeing Starliner's…
Spacesuits are an essential tool for space travel. Typically, each astronaut uses a single type of spacesuit throughout their entire mission to and from the ISS. However, for astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, things were different—they had the unique opportunity to experience both of today’s most advanced spacesuits: Boeing’s Blue Starliner suit and SpaceX’s Starman suit.
So, what did the astronauts have to say about SpaceX’s spacesuit after being rescued by Dragon?
And which suit truly leads the future of space exploration?
Let’s find out on today’s episode of Alpha Tech.

Perhaps many people don’t know that the spacesuits for the rescue mission of the two Starliner astronauts posed a logistical challenge when SpaceX stepped in.
Each spacecraft has unique technical specifications, and in this case, the Boeing spacesuits were incompatible with Crew Dragon’s internal systems. Specifically, the umbilical connections—flexible 'tubes' that provide air and cooling to the spacesuits—had different connection standards and ports, making a direct transfer impossible.

As a result, the astronauts had to switch to SpaceX-specific spacesuits, adding another layer of complexity to their already extended mission.
From this experience, astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore had the opportunity to try out an extraordinary space product that left them in awe.
So, to understand how the astronauts felt when experiencing both suits in the same mission, we first need to grasp some fundamental concepts about the types of spacesuits commonly used in space.
