Elon Musk revealed Starship V3 Design Completed, Launching Once a week in 2026...
A profound breakthrough!
That’s how Elon Musk described the latest progress on Starship V3—the version that many people are eagerly anticipating, along with a host of other ambitious plans.
And speaking of breakthroughs, SpaceX has just hit a major milestone with Falcon 9, achieving an unprecedented launch cadence and record-breaking reuse speed.
So, let’s dive into it all in today’s episode of Great SpaceX!

This year marks a crucial transition for Starship as SpaceX officially implements the V2 version of the Ship, introducing a series of significant upgrades. However, after just two flights, both of which encountered major issues, it’s becoming clear that even bigger changes may be necessary. That’s where Starship V3 comes in—not just as a concept, but as an actual project now in active development.
Recently, Elon Musk provided a surprising and important update on this new version, stating:
“We are honing in on the V3 Starship design. @SpaceX is tracking to a Starship launch rate of once a week in ~12 months.”

Yes, even though SpaceX has only launched two V2 flights and hasn’t yet produced many V2 prototypes, the company is already deep into research and production of V3. This move is crucial because V3 isn’t just an incremental improvement—it’s set to bring game-changing advancements to the entire Starship system.
This ain’t your daddy’s Starship.
One of the biggest and most immediately noticeable changes in V3 is its size. This new version could reach up to 150 meters in height, allowing for larger fuel tanks in both stages. The increase in fuel capacity directly translates to greater efficiency and performance, particularly for complex missions like orbital refueling, which will be critical for long-duration space travel.
But in order to tackle the harsh expanse of space in all its glory, there are Key System Upgrades that have been applied.
While V2 introduced major updates, some aspects remain unclear or problematic—hot staging and the Raptor engine, in particular.
Let’s first go over the Hot Staging Overhaul.
