Hi, I'm Shorty and in this vlog I'm heading to the snow to try out my new snowskates.
Our destination is Jisan Forest Resort which is about 90 minutes away from Seoul.
It has seven main slopes and a terrain park but the terrain park wasn't open on this day.
This was my first time on snowskates and I wasn't sure what to expect.
I thought I would be okay since I have skating and a little bit of skiing experience.
At first I felt like a bambi learning how to walk but
after a bit of distance I got used to the gliding motion.
This is a lot harder than I thought.
Once you pick up a bit of speed it's a lot easier than going slow.
I must say getting on and off ski lifts was a lot easier with snowskates.
Okay here's my first attempt going down a slope.
After a few more runs I got used to where I needed to balance my weight.
Since snowskates are a lot shorter than skis you have less front to back stability
but your feet are more agile. I had to remember to keep my weight more on my heels going forward
and then my weight more on my toes and going fakie.
Otherwise I would dig my toe or heel into the snow and fall.
I don't think you can go super fast on snowskates like skis or a snowboard
but I love the idea of doing spins and jumps more like aggressive skating
or dancing on snow and I can't wait to try these out on the terrain park.
I did however go down some small hill jumps which was super fun.
Once I get better at my fakie stance and going downhill
I would love to try jumping 180 and 360 over them.
So this ends my short snowskate vlog. I'll look to do a progress video
towards the end of the season and hopefully I'll have a bit more experience then.
In the meantime you can stay up to date with my snow and
skating adventures on my Instagram at shortstop.six.
Thanks for watching!
