Pronounce SADDLE PUDDLE BOTTLE LITTLE NEEDLE CANDLE TURTLE TITLE - American English #learnenglish
Hey everyone, it's Jennifer. I have a quick tip lesson for you today. Lots of words.
The question is, how do I pronounce words that end in d-d-l-e, t-t-l-e, d-l-e, and t-l-e?
Good news, we are going to pronounce these endings all the same way, d-l-e.
Technically, this is a flap t, but I am teaching it as a fast d sound because that's just so much
easier to think about. You're going to say that fast d sound by quickly touching the tip of the
to the roof of the mouth where the skin and the teeth meet. Some people make it a little further
back in the mouth. That's totally fine. Then you're going to let the tongue just pop down a bit for
that uh and then back up for the l. I recommend holding the tongue to the teeth for that l for
a little bit longer because some of my students don't do that or make the l in a different
position and then it doesn't sound like you have an l. It sounds like an o. So, to avoid that,
just keep the tip of the tongue touching. I touch where the teeth and the skin on the roof of the
mouth meet. Again, you can make it a little further back, but just be careful. You want it
sound like a l, not an o. All right. So, let's give this a try. Dull, dull, dull. Dull, dull,
dull. Can you say a t sound? Of course. Can you say a d sound? Of course. Let's just think of it
as a fast d. Dull, dull, dull. Saddle, saddle, saddle. Puddle, puddle, puddle. Bottle, bottle,
bottle. Little, little, little. Needle, needle, needle. Candle, candle, candle. Turtle, turtle,
turtle. Title, title, title. One more time. Don't forget. Stress syllable one. Unstressed,
dull syllable. So, it's going to be faster. Saddle, puddle, bottle, little. Needle,
candle, turtle, title. Give it a try. I know people are going to notice the difference. I
hope you found this helpful. Please let me know what you thought about this lesson. It's a little
