It's Jennifer from Tarle speech with your heteronym lesson. Heteronyms are words that are spelled the same but they have different meanings and different pronunciations. Our words today are close which means near; and close which means to shut.

So to say near or close to me you're going to end with an S sound. And to say close like close the door you are going to end with a z sound Z.

The beginning of the word starts with that k l combination - tip of the tongue is low for that K back of the tongue is pulled high up. Air just pops out. Then you're going to move the tip of the tongue to the spot where the teeth meet the skin on the roof of the mouth for the L, L.

Next move to the O. Open wide and then pucker and then end with that s or Z. Your mouth does the same thing the tip of your tongue is either pointed down and or it is behind the top front teeth. It is not touching the teeth at all. Air just keeps moving out of the mouth for the S sound. The voice box, your throat, is not vibrating, and is not moving, but it is moving, and vibrating for that z sound.

And now for a sentence:
Please close the door that is close to the window.
