I am using the tractor and mower to get a digging job done in the new re-designed flower and vegetable garden! Gardening can be backbreaking work without the right tools. For years we did all of our gardening by hand or using very small tools and equipment. Having larger machinery such as a tractor and big mower with cart is an absolute game changer.
Thankyou to John Deere Australia for loaning us the tractor and mower while we make them some videos :) If you purchase via affiliate links I will earn a small commission. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Thankyou so much if you use those links!!

Welcome or welcome back to our little farm here in Australia.
We are surrounded by beautiful gum trees and native vegetation
and the very cheeky wallabies that keep eating everything.
I feel like this season has just been the never-ending story
of intense heat. But I have finally started to notice the sun
just sitting a little bit lower in the sky during the day which is a good sign.
I love these. I need to pick tomatoes but the wallabies have been eating the
tomatoes so we're not going to have anything.
Come up here tonight and pick that with James.
Hi everyone. Today's a bit of an exciting day.
I just sort of harvested as much veg as I can
and today we're ripping out as much of this garden as we can.
I've just got to move the tractor out of the way. I've just plonked it right in
the middle of where I need to drive the mower and
we're going to start transforming this field. But first I've got to get it
cleaned up. I'm hoping that the heat, like we are
having insane heat. This is what's the date today? Something like
the 14th of March. We're still in the mid-30s like it's
34 today. It's so hot. Like I'm limited with what
I can do because I can't put the little plants in yet
but it looks like next week things are going to cool down and I might be able to
start planting out the cool flowers which would be amazing to get those in
the ground. But today I'm just going to focus on
cleaning up as much as I can in the field and it's going to start
with pulling out excess plants. So let's get into that. I've got these
smaller ones so my hat doesn't sit up in the air.
Okay we're good. Might leave those on because I'm going to be using the lawn
mower. Okay.
First job I need to move these crape myrtles.
So you saw that I bought those maybe two weeks ago
and this intense heat. I've had them sitting out here and it's been too hot.
They really needed to be watered a lot more and they're dying so I'm losing all
these trees now and that's an expensive loss.
So I'm going to pack those in the cart, take them up to the house yard.
I'm thinking I can probably drive through there.
Put those there so then I can't forget to put them on
when I take off again. Okay so the motivator to get this garden set up as
quick as possible is to get those trees in and I feel
like isn't it funny that that's the motivating factor to save
these trees. These are the colorway daisy and
apparently locally they're hard to grow so I almost feel
bad for ripping all of this out and I'm wondering should I
like let the garden club know. I'm thinking maybe I should fill a bucket
with small plants and let the garden club know
that they can come and get them. I just need to get a bucket.
Okay I was just going to rip this garden out and get it done really fast but it's
now not going to be very fast.
That little thingy I don't think is to hold my Zacateus
but it's such a handy little spot to put them because I'm not going to lose it. I
think driving along I couldn't leave them there. Actually I think I'd stay.
This cart, I'm actually loving this cart. I never thought that I would.
I never even thought about it. It's going to save me so much time.
I'm pretty impressed with myself. That thing has the best turning circle.
I feel like I did amazing. The hardest part was I haven't quite figured out
where the level of the bucket is. Mine's not very smooth
but I'm not sure how to smooth it out. I might have to do it with a rake and
obviously need to remove more rows so I can smooth everything out and get these
new beds built. But yeah like I feel like I did amazing.
Look at it. It actually looks pretty good.
I had to try to maneuver around this tree
but I've completely done this area in a day, half a day. So I would say for
today, job done. I'm kind of gobsmacked actually.
I think I also need it to rain before anything permanent goes in
because I've got to see where the water's running because we do have to do
the drainage as well. But anyway like first section done.
I kind of feel speechless. I've got so much extra energy left over
too because I didn't have to do all the walking
which is really good.
