Angora Goat Arrives on the Farm, & Teddy Bear Crafting

[Music] mark and Tara here and welcome to the 10acre woods And it's winter again and we got snow So but it's supposed to be 10° uh above zero on Wednesday So all the up and downs Uh so we had somebody come in somebody some something a goat Yeah Uh so Shimmer the goat came in yesterday and uh the people who uh uh had her uh also had Larry Curly and Mo back five five or so years ago So um they're they're starting to they're switching to cattle Uh and uh they've rehomed some animals but Shimmer was their bottle baby So uh she wanted to make sure that uh uh that they went to that she went to a uh a good home here on the farm So we're going to uh see Shimmer in a little bit She's an Angora goat and she's going to need a little little trimming Uh they had mentioned if uh they were to trim before bringing her over but because of the weather we just said no Uh leave that and we're going to be shearing our sheep in well hopefully end of May beginning of June but beginning of June when the weather warms up So uh we'll get shimmer at that point So uh we've got two of these little springs water feeders Uh we unplugged the one and Terra unplugged it inside then realized the temperature wasn't getting warmer So she plugged it back in and it just didn't work So that is probably about 4 years old and I've ordered another one So it is icing up We're going to have to uh just continue to break up the ice in the one inside which isn't a big deal Uh but the other heater is supposed to come well probably when it warms up on Wednesday So the other day Tiana had come out and found two of her pigeons that were uh attacked Uh so they were left here kind of halfeaten whatnot So um I don't know You you know you you wonder about wild predators and like foxes and coyotes and all that kind of stuff but I I looked at the cameras last night cuz I saw some prints over there And uh so that was two days ago she found the bodies and then uh last night of course I go through the cameras and uh nope not wildlife It is domestic cat So to all those cat owners you know pay attention to where your cats go because you think you're feeding them but in reality especially out in the farms they're going to your neighbors and they're eating their animals They're killing pets These are pets that were killed by a domestic cat So please keep your domestic cats at home because now I have to set up a trap and catch a domestic cat and hand it over to animal control you know it's just it's not like and these aren't these aren't like like uh starving cats They're just they're in it for the hunt I mean they killed them And then as I walk up here obviously was back last night because there's another one lying in the middle of the So I picked up the bodies that were left and I put them in the garbage can right so obviously he came back last night So I'll set up the trap in here with the other body that's still in there because it's sad when Tiana sees you know one of her babies [Laughter] cuz Penny's in here She'll take it Some little mini eggs A Oh there's Penny over there So Penny's our broody broody hen So she'll probably go and sit down on those and hatch them out She's just collecting collecting her eggs Uh chicken feed Yeah So they're uh Oh and pennies Oh okay Uh yeah actually it looks good There is some food in there These guys have some of this uh mash here and lentils Peas and lentils in there They could probably use a top up on their bath So we use dilottomacious earth or what's called de in there so that they can bathe and uh get rid of those parasites especially when they're locked up inside So with all the uh all the hay Oh boy What do we have for eggs any usually uh during the day oh look at that We got spray there Yeah I only got one in the Yeah So okay Excuse me Excuse me Rod Out of the way All right There we go Oh wait Yeah it is Sorry Rod Yeah Rod and Jimmy Rod Stewart and Jimmyi Hendris and all the girls All right we'll add this to the collection and we'll uh check out and see I don't know if these girls are doing anything Hi girls Got any eggs excuse me Okay now I'll let him kind of reposition because I do see an egg right in there and I don't want to freak him out So I'll slowly move over here All right there we go She's up there It's like an obstacle course Oh she jumped up There we go So we got one here All right work my way out All right there we go Yeah you go back over just slow and steady so they don't freak out Okay so there we go One egg there So they're starting to produce a little more They just needed a little more light didn't you girls okay so there we go And that makes five dozen out here since how long i guess a week right yeah something like that So yeah eggs are starting to Oh no And then Tiana will get a bunch this afternoon Yeah What's that oh you didn't make another batch No Uh-oh That's a P Uh Py and Piper Oh Pipers Yeah she'll be fine So just give her that Yeah give her some drain Well I have to watch Make sure Petey doesn't steal her food Well I usually soak it 24 hours before Okay So you're putting in That's the pig mash isn't it no this is canola Oh that's the canola Canola Uh You know for fat and energy And so you've got wheat barley Wheat barley oats Oats Yeah And then uh canola uh pellets Yeah And then we'll soak that Okay We'll soak that and it'll turn it into a mash That looks like that Not a whole lot in there but Yeah Get the regular She'll get some dry Yeah Okay Good Okay Put that down She's got to He's got to walk Yeah Throw it in when Petey does the walk by or Look I guess I guess there was a mouse under there cuz the water didn't like the water Hi Shimmer This is Shimmer So this is Shimmer So she was a bottle baby Uh her mother apparently broke her leg during during pregnancy or during birth before I think Yeah So they had to keep the mother going and before amputation like and then when she was born they amputated the mother's leg but of course they needed to to help So they end up bottle uh bottle feeding her and she's how old did they say she was seven Seven Now okay these are also people who we've known through the years and follow every video And when I said she was going in with Sheldon she was so excited So it'll be she'll be in this pen with with the with the specials Yeah So they um when they showed up they were uh Yeah They were all curious about who this new one was It was funny because um little Tucker Yeah Tucker backed up and went to do a headbutt and he was like "You're too tough." He was like "I'm the alpha here You have to get through me." But then he gave up So Sheldon showed up a little bit Yeah Sheldon just kind of he was aware of kind of somewhat aware that was what was going on but Sheldon's an interesting little boy Not a care in the world right Sheldon yeah Shine like Sheldon Oh who's that who's that is the lip going to go up are you going to put the lip up are you you're silly boy aren't you so he was our little bottle baby Oh boy What was that that was probably five six years ago Yeah No he was the cutest little boy out doing uh goat yoga Uh we had a goat yoga session and he had like this little tie on and he was following Terror around It was just uh it was the cutest cutest little boy Your water's coming All right keep going back Yeah it's like where's my water there we go There you Good stuff Belvadier Belvadier Is that Belvadier belvadier Yeah he's nice Yeah the the chickens I have a hard time with names Yeah because there's so many different Jun Tank Junior Yeah Yeah He doesn't have one yet Yeah Some of them have names some of them don't So all right kids Okay Tucker Twin brothers Twin brothers Let's go with cuz those two are brothers The far ones that look the same right bob and Doug Bob and Doug Bob Those two Okay Bob and Doug If you follow Canadian history at all Bob and Doug McKenzie are are uh Canadians E They were on Were they on they were on uh was it Saturday Night Live i think they they were on Saturday Night Live but they had their own show MTV Yeah they had their own show It was the Bob and Doug McKenzie show Are you still No no she's uh she's finishing it up anyway Yeah the kids want hay Yeah your your oats weren't big good enough right yeah No they're ready for second second course Yeah that'll be interesting to see if Penny sits on that Second course second breakfast whatever you want to call it That quiets them down This mix of hay here um that was in the bags right is more of an alalfa Yeah it's a more rich We kind of figured that So so good for the rabbits for the rabbits but not for Oh yeah Look at that They just jump right in there and say "We're done We're done with mama." Yeah pretty much They were all drinking out of the water bowl Yeah So they're pretty much done with mama Yeah So they can they can go Yeah they are ready for the other ones are in the food bowl Yeah Yeah Everybody's got their preferences And then these two these two will go outside These two will be inside Yeah The angora I'm not sure how much long Edward has You know he's old Yeah So he I think he'll look at her She always does this oneeyed look thing Hi Beverly But I'm not here She says "Yeah we can see you." Yeah She's like "I'm not moving." You have like huge body behind you Beverly she's just not moving I'm hiding Crazy Yeah these guys are These guys are cute So they're a good pair So you're looking for a couple good rabbits These ones here boy and a girl She's fixed both Uh Oh yeah She's fixed Yes So yeah No they're a great pair They just the girls and the one in the front Yeah they're in love Well which is funny cuz she hated she she fought with Beverly She came in with Beverly and they couldn't be together Girls they tend to have fights right so she quite likes him Yeah No it works well Hey are you all done Piper good girl See you later Back in the house downstairs in our craft area Well the whole house is a craft area Last I think it was last week I showed you this I think it was we put on a roof on it Uh I put this home tweet home on it which Tara just loved She didn't notice that it was tweet home instead of sweet home initially Um but uh so she was like "Oh yeah no that's really cute." So I put on a backing on it so we're able to mount it screw it top and bottom And then of course there's a plug that will get hooked up underneath it and plugged in for the camera that is inside there So she loved that so much she wanted one for our house So I went and I made her this to put out on the front of the house So she's going to mount that I cut this out on the laser yesterday Uh I put a high gloss paint on it which kind of makes it look like acrylic So it looks really nice Uh so that is that it's just uh drying It's got Yeah it should should let it dry like 24 hours uh for curing cuz it's still you know you can if you touch it you can put little fingerprints on there which I don't want So we will just let that harden Uh and that is uh that's the new laser project this week Anyway okay back upstairs in Terara's craft area and she's the whole house is my craft area I know That's what I was saying Downstairs in the craft area up the whole house Uh and you decided to add another animal to the family Somebody me or I saw a post about uh stuffies right like making stuffed animals like handmade and so I commented on it and then I was uh talking back and forth with somebody in a guy named Oh Oh Terra's so bad with names McKinnon last name is McKinnon Anyways I was uh talking with him and he's looking for a specialty made uh batch of bears but he needs a fox So I'm like can I do a fox i can try And then I was like nailed it It's the same same body She just changed the ears Yeah And the tail Yeah So what's neat though is I'm not fond of like piecing together different fabrics to make them because this is hand sewn It's not you know like done on the machine So I decided I would try using the sheep's wool to accent And so you got the white and the brown sheep wool from outside So you got a little bit of onyx and a little bit of turbo and I have felted it to it and I'm quite impressed with it So even the tail like oh right So uh that is my first trial and I nailed it Uh I will tweak the ears a little just because they're too too poofy We need them to kind of cone So they'll come a little higher on the next one and then be pleated in the middle so that they cone forward Ah yeah right Um but other than that very pleased Yeah Yeah Very pleased Yeah Your prototype My prototype box So we had a fundraiser Uh the black one sold fundraiser last weekend So we ended up selling the uh the black one Yeah We raised 500 bucks towards Did we raise 500 500 bucks to the little guy We did $245 I matched it Yeah So it was Oliver right oliver Yeah So he is uh he's got some speech software and an iPad He needs to get the iPad and insurance didn't cover it Yeah And it's a family we've known for years And I tell you Oliver is the sweetest little guy He's four but he's just you can just He's just so sweet Like his energy is just so pure So yeah why not so they had to raise $1,800 Um and uh so I think they're at I think they're at $1,550,500 So they're getting there Yeah Yeah So they're getting there But it was at least now they can buy the machine Yeah The iPad The iPad And then the software actually costs almost as much as the iPad does Yeah So that and that's why so at least they can get the iPad and they can get them started And it's just a way to uh for him to to communicate which is why we have bags of giant Lego still out Uh Beanie Babies We've got I don't know what how many did you say 168 Beanie Babies there's about There's about 80 Webkins That was Tiana collected Webkins So she parted with about 50 of them Yeah Yeah She had to keep Well so did I She didn't say anything So did I Cuz you'll see them around The ones I couldn't get rid of So we kept the wildlife the owls the raccoon the chicken the you know things the animals that we deal with I don't need a pink monkey right um and then there's 150 Thai babies like like from the collection They're like brand new Oh two of the number one the the most rare which is the princess die which we didn't realize You look on it's like people have them I checked on eBay 1 1.5 million But is he selling it no No He's just throwing it up there Generally they're around 45 $200 on Facebook or marketplace 20 bucks Yeah So I'd rather either raise money for somebody so they'll go back in storage or I'll find some like when we do our Easter events or when we do something like that we'll give them away Yeah Yeah At that price it's not you know whatever That's the uh that's the heater that I cleaned up I brought in and it looks like it may you know maybe a little bit um get overheated Yeah maybe a little there's a little wear there on that But basically it just trips the GFI the ground fault interrupter which is why it is important Can't stress enough Uh just like in your bathroom you've got the uh the little thing the little plug that has the test and the reset You always want to have that as part of your heater because what can happen is if it does fail the ground fault interrupter may not trigger and that just runs the risk of electrocution And if it had been a mouse chew Yeah down here in the wiring then we could have that in the hay That would have been fine Yeah No but if it was in the hay Yeah and you didn't have a ground belt Yeah Then your hay is on fire And that is why we rescue so many from barf fires So last weekend uh we took a look at Toby our West Highland white terrier And he was in need of a uh a dog shearing I guess we'll say Uh he doesn't shed West Highland Terriers are a non-shedding dog And this is kind of what he looked like last weekend Uh so uh I decided yesterday Saturday that um now's the time we're going to bring them up We do it right here on the kitchen counter like we do or on our island like we do pretty much everything else And uh the unveiling of the new Look at daddy Toby Look at daddy Put your ears up Is right there Sit Look Look Look right here Yeah No He's like where's the food right there he is So uh yeah So there he is He actually looks white Ow Got his nails Presentable Good boy Toby Good boy Yes He looks so white But why are you eating teeth you know the animals The best thing about animals is they teach you to pick up Yeah He's like "Oh it's a toy."
