hey welcome back i'm Dustin i'm Lesie
and we're the Wayward Wags um you
probably have seen the thumbnail
and so let's just go ahead and talk
about that i don't know what the
thumbnail is so well I was I was
hospitalized oh that okay that's the
thumbnail okay you took the picture for
the thumbnail i did oh that I didn't
know that was going to be the thumbnail
[Music]
yeah so I was okay recently hospitalized
for the first time in a very very long
time the last I was trying to think
about it i was as I was getting ready
for this video and at the last time I
was hospitalized I know exactly when it
was was um in Iraq
oh well technically yeah 2005 uh when I
got hit by a suicide bomber mhm um I had
to stay overnight in a hospital in
Baghdad um before that the one you're
thinking of was in 1999 yeah when I had
some some testing done for headaches and
stuff and they did a spinal tap and I
have spinal headache kind of so I don't
go to the hospital very often and I
don't go to the hospital unless like a
limb is hanging off or I think I'm going
to die or I tell him I'm going to kill
him if he doesn't come
in this case I voluntarily went yes I
was having some severe stomach issues um
spent a couple hours in the bathroom I
won't go into details cuz it's not fun
details
but anyway ended up with colitis which
could have come from a bunch of
different things um I umpire baseball so
I I go around to a bunch of parks and I
eat concession stands and I eat fast
food and we do cornhole nights so we eat
out and so it's just hard to tell even
though we pinpoint it yeah even though
we go to the same places places a lot we
eat different things order the same
things and or if someone different
prepared our meal and didn't wash their
hands properly whatever i mean that
could have been one of the issues um it
can be a bacterial thing that you can
pick up I don't know anywhere I guess
but yeah it was pretty bad mhm and so it
was bad enough for me to go to the
hospital um I was bleeding um and they
were concerned about blood loss yeah uh
they they thought they might have to
transfer me to another hospital to get a
blood transfusion if I was losing enough
blood but luckily got the bleeding to
stop i got discharged i'm good now yeah
all better all better i have to have
some additional testing in the future
which I'm not excited about but I'm at
the age anyway it's colonoscopy time
so not only to test for this but it's
just time yeah anyway so yeah not super
excited about that nobody is but I'm
okay thank you for all your concerns and
thoughts and prayers i appreciate that
because I know some of you are going to
see this thumbnail and go "Oh my gosh."
And then our Wag Wagville community knew
they already knew we already talked to
them about it and of course family and
friends already knew everything that was
going on and local friends and stuff but
it was just uh Yeah it was a little
scary for a little bit but and then the
hospital food wasn't smelled good i It
smelled good i walked in and I was like
the crazy part too was it's the hospital
that it's that I used to like be a big
part of managing yes in the military and
uh I now I know no one i walk in there
they don't know me from Adam no you know
if I would have walked in there seven
years ago they'd have been like "All
right let's get him up." They would have
rolled out the red carpet i had a VIP
room oh yeah I would have been upstairs
in 10 minutes they would have been
taking care of me you know the the chief
of the department would have been I mean
5 hours in the ER absolutely not but now
they don't know who who the hell I am so
you're just for Sergeant W just just
another dude you know but um No it was
great they did they did took care took
care of me very well yeah you know so
great people it was good so let's get on
to some good news okay the good news is
if you've been following us on cornhole
our cornhole adventures we've been doing
a lot better really great we we shoot in
the cornhole league every Tuesday night
we just finished the winter league and
in that winter league if you finish at
least in the top three in the city then
you get to go to the state tournament
which we did yes we went to the state
tournament for the very first time yep
that's where like all the leagues across
the state take their top three they all
come to the state and you go there and
you have this big huge tournament
hundreds of people yeah lots and lots of
teams and we finished fourth in the
state of Georgia boom which was crazy
so we're getting we're getting good way
better than I thought that was
intermediate level yes and because we
finished so well in the intermediate
level we are now moved up to advance to
advance which is the highest you can go
and we've we've shot one week so far and
we won yes so we're on our way to
hopefully make it to state in the
competitive league i was so nervous i
like I was telling the Brits uh what was
it like a day or two before yeah you're
about to puke yeah i was like I am like
day one filming for YouTube nervous
that's where I was at i was like stomach
doing flips i was like "Oh my god I
cannot go to the state and play in front
of all these people." I was concerned
because you know you play local
tournaments you play your local league
you know everybody you shoot against
these people all the time so it's really
you get pretty comfortable with that
when you go to state it's just like lots
of pressure it's a it's a big tournament
so the pressure of it gets to you and
sometimes it can throw you off your game
but didn't they actually really shot
really really good and I went in there
going we're going to be out fairly quick
so let's just get this over with
and I guess having that mentality I
didn't let nerves get to me too much
yeah he's like "Yeah whatever happens
whatever." Yeah and we played great we
were the last of our our uh league our
city to be out we're the last ones from
Columbus Georgia still in the tournament
yeah that was awesome you were the last
female female in the tournament
yeah so that was really cool yeah very
good stuff i shot really well that day i
was so proud yeah all right all right so
we're kind of all over the place in this
video because I know remember last time
we had a video I told you that I would
show you the laundry room oh okay so let
me put up a picture this is a picture of
what our laundry room used to look like
mhm and then Leslie of course she's on
Pinterest or whatever i don't know
Better Homes and Gardens or whatever she
gets on everything i'm on everything and
she and she sees this picture and she
shows it to me i'll put it up here and
she goes "This is what I want my laundry
room to look like." And I'm like "Okay
how much is that going to cost us to pay
someone to do?" Cuz I'm not doing it i
said "Yes we are there's no possible way
I could do this." And we could totally
do this this is so easy two cabinets
three shelves we can do that so that's
the before and that's the concept
picture so now we're going to go on a
little field trip i see the And we're
going to show you the the laundry room
yeah or some people have seen the
pictures on Facebook but yeah I am in
love with it let's go look at it all
right thank you to the sponsor of
today's video Brooklyn Bedding we've had
our mattress for over 3 years now we had
it in the RV and now we have a Brooklyn
bedding mattress in the new house and
it's by far been the best night sleep
we've ever had yeah and one of the good
parts about it is it's factory direct
pricing and so you have to worry about
middlemen jacking up the price on you
and I love that they give you 120 night
sleep trial so if you don't like it you
can send it back if you need a different
firmness level they'll swap it out it's
perfect also comes with a 10-year
warranty so for any reason you have any
issues with your mattress over the next
10 years which is insane you can send it
back and it'll send you a new one and
it's shipped for free direct from the
factory in Arizona and the best part
about it is we can save you 30% on your
next purchase of a Brooklyn bedding
mattress we'll leave a link in the
description below all you have to do is
use a promo code Wags when you check out
all right we're in the studio now so
we're headed out through the
house i kind of miss uh doing this stuff
the vlogging stuff the walking around
and talking and
stuff so let's go into here and show you
what she looks like look at this wow i
love it so now we have two cabinets so
all the stuff is hidden it's not just up
there hanging out and then you know of
course Leslie had to get all her little
knickknackies and little decorations and
all that stuff come on like that is
adorable a little dryer ball sheep
freaking cute yeah and I mean when you
have that wire wrap thing up there I
don't care how organized you get it
still looks messy it Yeah it just looks
cluttered and looks messy and looks bad
it just doesn't look warm inviting
it's just See I guess because doing 20
years in the military it looks sterile
to me like wire rack is just sterile
environment it's It doesn't feel cozy at
all yeah it really It took us a day to
do this it didn't take long to do it uh
it wasn't as hard as I thought the guy
at Lowe's helped us with how to hang
Godend to find him that night yeah how
to hang these these cabinets cuz I had
no idea i've never hung a cabinet a day
in my life um he educated us in what a
French cleat was yeah never heard of it
cuz we're not handy people love it i'll
go hang cabinets any day with French
super easy oh my god that was super easy
so now um man we love it yes i love
coming in here i mean you love it more
than I love it i mean I love laundry
period it does not bother me i actually
look forward to doing laundry on laundry
days but now it's just it's like a fairy
tale for me to not come in here and
go can't reach that on the shelf got to
get the step stool i just love things
are hidden that I don't need to be seen
every day yeah and it's all displayed
what I do need when I come in here it's
good i'm proud of us yes I am too we
didn't argue no and this you can see
this is a pretty confined space this is
that was the biggest challenge yes this
is the smallest laundry room we've ever
had and that's counting military housing
this is still the smallest laundry room
we've ever had so it's only 6 ft wide
mhm and I think it just for the size of
space we have to work with this is the
best case scenario you could do yeah it
was it was just awkward it was confined
space we didn't move these all the way
out the washer and dryer we just kind of
moved them out and worked behind it but
they're a little cumbersome from time to
time but we didn't get frustrated no
even though we run into roadblocks a
couple times but we were good worked out
good it is beautiful and it added value
to the home yeah this whole deal only
cost like 600 bucks for the whole
project yeah and that's with my
knickknack yeah that's with everything
we did good i did good all right let's
go back to the studio all right
okay so that's that yes um I told you
we're all kind of all over the place
because so much has happened since the
last video um we did want to say you
know that we're thinking about all the
people that were hit by the big storm
yes the recent storm uh the big storm
went a whole across the whole country
and actually my hometown of Popular
Bluff Missouri took a direct hit yes
from an F3 tornado uh I think one
fatality in the town there over 500
homes injured though destroyed
businesses destroyed lots of stuff you
know bad going on there lots of
rebuilding that's going to have to be
done so we're praying for my hometown of
Papa Bluff Missouri not just them but
everybody who was impacted over 40
people were killed total as the storm
came across and by the time it got to us
it really it was kind of going up you
know northeast and we caught we caught
some of it heavy rain and wind which
actually hit the night you got admitted
to the hospital so I was here me and
Scout by ourselves but we were ready i
had his cage his kennel ready in case we
had to be mobile i had the weather radio
and flashlights and everything sitting
out so that was that was bad um and then
always in our videos we like talk about
good news stories yes so the good news
story we're talking about is the
astronauts are back the astronauts are
back on Earth man yeah they went on like
a I felt like they were like um
Gilligans Island of the space the space
version of Gilligans Island they went on
a three-hour tour turned in 10 months
but yeah they're back it's really cool
that they're back um I can't imagine
like you know cuz
if you're expecting to be up there that
long that's one that's one thing yeah
but if you're only expecting to be up
there for a short period of time you've
made future plans already like Yeah you
didn't you didn't bring enough
toothpaste
well I mean just in general in life you
made plans to go do certain things and
be at certain events and you're like
well not making that and actually I
could
see not to point this out but I I
noticed it because it's something that
you would have like really it would have
really bothered you what the woman that
was up there the longer she was up there
the grayer and grayer she got oh my god
yes no hair color up there oh my god i'd
have been like I am not getting on
camera at all or I'm wearing my helmet
at all times and her hair was just like
this the whole time so that was that was
crazy cuz I have some brutal grays man
that um back and and you just look 10 15
years older yeah so So glad they're back
glad they're back safe i was kind of
worried about that but um that's that's
good news story the other great news
story is that baseball's back baby oh
god baseball is back great story cubs
baseball here we go regular season we've
been in spring break and that's great
and I love it but you know you're ready
for baseball baseball yeah and so
baseball is back uh and we've already
mentioned this before but we have now a
local minor league team just moved to
Columbus Georgia which is right across
the river from us so we'll be able to go
and watch some baseball games and hang
out we love going to minor league
baseball games we did it as we traveled
in our RV we hit a ton of minor league
baseball games i think we've seen almost
every Cubs affiliate so far except for
two there's there's the couple that we
haven't seen and one of them plays
against Columbus and they will be here
in June so we'll get to go see them
that'll be cool the uh uh I think the
Chattanooga Smokies smokies the Smokeoky
no it's Knoxville no is it Knoxville i
think it's Knoxville knoxville smokies
knoxville yeah oh Smoky Mountains they
did it okay and then they got the little
bear mascot for like Smoke the Bear I
guess so every game that we go to we'll
be rooting for the local team which is
the Columbus Cling Stones
they're a Braves affiliate but it's okay
i'll root for them because they're the
home team unless Knoxville comes to town
I'll be rooting for Knoxville because
they're a Cubs affiliate so you got it
so and then we'll try to sit on the
we'll try to sit on the on the home team
dugout side unless Knoxville's in town
then we'll sit on the on the Knoxville
side but it it's been really cool seeing
that stadium come up yes watching the
progress of it built being built my big
concern is it's right on the road it's
right next to a major road that is
terrible at rush hour and there's no net
and they put up no netting to protect
there's going to be some baseballs
there's gonna be car wrecks it's gonna
be and and unfortunately the stuff has
to happen before they go "Oh okay we
should have done that." And then they'll
put something up all you do is put up
one of those Top Golf Yeah nets around
it because Yeah when there's going to be
a game I'm not traveling that road
well I mean the chances of you getting
hit by a foul ball no our chances are
very high
i mean it's like probably less than
getting struck by lightning
still high for us chances of me getting
hit by foul ball is really high i got
hit by like two last week yeah like that
like the being hospitalized was just an
add-on i still got the bruised right
there look at that yeah because you Well
first you got hit in the face i got hit
in the face this was a couple couple
weeks before I got hospitalized yeah I
got hit a ball to the face i was wearing
my mask yeah but it shoves the mask into
your face which did something to your
sinuses the trauma of it sinus infection
yeah so you were on antibiotics for 10
days and almost didn't get to sleep in
the same room with you because it was
hard for you to sleep it was and thank
God the meds kicked in really quick yeah
so then I took a fast ball here yeah and
then and then I got hit in the arm a
couple days ago but I'm good i'm fine
everything's fine i I love it even
though I I don't love getting hit I
don't love getting hit by baseballs but
I love you know I mean and you you think
about it I go I'll go call like six
seven or eight games i might be hit once
you know if So
statistically you don't get hit very
often so it seems like almost daily for
you though i I I do i feel like I get
hit more than other umpires for some
reason but I don't know what the deal is
i don't know if it can happen it's going
to happen to you it's the way our luck
if there weren't bad luck we'd have no
luck at all no we have we have great
luck we have We have a great life we are
doing awesome we have way better luck
than a lot of people out there trust me
yes oh and another new thing oh cool hit
me oh yeah leslie's wearing glasses we
have glasses again
it's a good and bad thing
i probably should be you probably will
be here soon but you know we're just
getting older man we both were in
readers and constantly having to use
them and freaking I got fed up with
having them up and down up and down
putting them on i didn't have them with
me at the time get to a restaurant
you're like I didn't bring my readers or
the readers out on the car or whatever
so I went and had an eye exam i had
Lasix 20 years ago this month and 20
years is phenomenal results yeah to get
out of your lasic my I was nearsided
which was a distance problem and my
distance now is just slightly different
she was amazed on how great my lady sick
held up but my distance was slightly off
so we fixed that and they're not
transitions they're called
Eizen but when I look down it's readers
for me i got you when I look straight
it's my new slight distance prescription
okay so I don't notice anything no they
are transitions no they're not for shade
oh well that I mean they're not
progressives they're not progressives i
meant Yeah but I do have the transition
for So they're sunglasses too which is
cool but they take a while to go back to
clear which is a little weird cuz we're
in Walmart and I'm like "Dude why you
still got your sunglasses on?" She's
like "I haven't changed yet
haven't changed back to clear." I do
like that but how do you feel like
wearing glasses every day like you used
to before i mean I'm not a fan of it i'm
I'm more tolerant than I was as a as a a
youth
but thankfully like when I need to do
something like when I went and washed
the car cuz it was covered in bugs and
pollen and I washed car having them off
does not change my vision
okay i still see perfectly fine all
right they've helped vibrant
yeah wise and for distance things are
more in focus but that means nothing
when I'm washing the car so when I go
outside and I'm going to be sweaty Yeah
i'm not going to wear them i'm going I'm
just going to take them off i think it'd
be tougher for me cuz I've never worn
glasses on a regular basis so I got
glasses when I was nine so for me to
have to go from never wearing glasses to
now wearing glasses every day i think it
would be a more of a a transition for me
it was more of a difficult time for me
than because you've done it before i've
done it before but like I said it's been
forever since that because I got glasses
at nine contacts at 15 and then I got
LASIC at 28 and I got 20 years i've
always had great vision my whole life so
I have to worry about it but now it's
kind of going downhill with age so we
didn't mention grandbab's home oh yeah
grandbab's home he's home out of the
hospital he's good and he's healthy and
he's eating yes and we've been able to
see him a few times yes he's so He's so
tiny i mean he's 6 weeks old and he's
still under N lbs but yeah I'll put up
our first selfie
our first selfie together but he he got
out of there way faster than they
expected so that was good news thank you
all so much for your thoughts and
prayers honestly appreciate it it's
that's awesome i mean we were we were
not expecting it to go nearly as well as
it may no so see we had good luck
blessed # blessed
yes oh yeah oh yeah and I wanted to
mention too we have um coming up real
soon um we're going to do our next I got
a next donation i got some I got some
really cool ideas i I got an idea i got
to run past Leslie this is news to me i
had an idea i got to run past Leslie
because I think it's going to be really
cool opportunity for a veteran
organization to donate to and um we will
bring that to you soon we have enough
money to do another one we just got to
get it We just got to get it done get it
filmed and and bring it to you yeah all
right it feels like forever since we've
done one it has been but you know since
the channel has slowed down we came off
the road we're not making nearly as much
money as so it takes more time to build
up enough to where we think it's a
significant amount to make an impact so
that's why it takes a little longer now
than than it used to so anyway hey stick
around for a few seconds we're going to
honor a fallen hero if you want to get
involved with helping us help veterans
everything you need to know is right
down in the description of the video we
appreciate you watching we'll see you
next time
