After shivering all night I manage to pull myself out of the sleeping bag and hike the rest of the way up the volcano. I was a bit too tired to enjoy myself up there. The only thing I could think about was being out of water and dreading the ride down.
Well guys, as far as Panama is concerned, this is the top of the world.
Just so you can see how cold it is up here, there's a little puddle right here
that's turned to a piece of ice.
Surprised it doesn't snow up here. Last night it got down to,
when I, well at six in the morning when my alarm went off, so I could hike up here and see the
sunrise, it said 34 degrees and I said there's no way in hell I'm getting out of this sleeping bag.
So I missed the sunrise, but I don't care. Couldn't have asked for a better day.
It's so clear and last night I could look up and see the stars, there were no clouds,
there was no rain. I look way out there and I can see the Atlantic. I can look that way
and I can see the Pacific. There are a few clouds starting to form, but
I got really lucky. I've heard I could have just as easily killed myself getting up here
and found nothing but clouds. The last couple weeks when I was getting ready to do this,
every morning I'd walk out of my house and I'd look up at the Volcan Baru
and sometimes it'd be cloudy and sometimes it'd be clear and it's just like you're taking a gamble
coming up here because you might, you might kill yourself getting up here and and see nothing.
But I got really lucky.
The bad thing is as I was hiking up here I sucked down my last few drops of water.
I have no water left for the for the entire trip down. I started with a bottle of Gatorade and
three liters of water in my camel pack and I took such a beating yesterday that I sucked it all down.
So I mean I was even cramping up. I was in my sleeping bag and my feet, my toes just kept
cramping up because they just just so dehydrated. So going down it's uh I don't know what's going
to happen, but I'm kind of already in bad shape and now I got to get a 500 pound motorcycle
um off this mountain. So I don't think I'll film very much on the way down because I'm just
I'm just too tired. But uh but uh I think this is I think this is one of those things that
you do once and once is enough. You have no desire to ever come back up here.
None. So I'm going to start heading down and we'll see what happens. Next time on Half Drop.
Oh sweet sweet glorious asphalt. Attraction giving pavement.
