They call me lessee, if you need somebody, I will never let you down.
I will find the key, you can trust in me, I'm a friend to everyone.
And I go, go under the rainbow, I will be your call, your call.
And I go, go, never take it slow, I will help you all, you all.
Are you serious? How could you let it escape?
Okay, just don't panic, ladies.
Uh, Harvey, I hate to point out the obvious, but we're not the ones on the stool.
Tarantulas aren't even dangerous, Harvey, you should know that.
I do, at least my brain knows it, but when it comes to spiders, the rest of me won't listen.
Never fear, lessee's on the case.
Nice job, lessee, way to keep your cool.
You too, Harvey, you've got nerves of steel.
Spiders are my weakness, okay? Aren't I allowed to have one irrational phobia?
Of course, Harvey, but just remember, it's all in your mind, and that means you can control it.
Sure, easy for you to say, Mrs. Parker.
He's right, Mom, you've never been afraid of anything.
Everyone is scared of something.
Graham here, can you read me, Sarah?
Sarah here.
A patrol has signaled strange behavior among the bats at Devil's Grin Gulch.
But I thought that dig site was closed.
You're right, that's why it's strange.
They must have been disturbed by visitors.
Can you check it out? We're a little busy here.
I've still got a fair bit of work to do, but okay, I'll swing by during the day.
Thanks, darling.
We'd be happy to go to Devil's Grin Gulch and check it out.
You want to go to Devil's Grin Gulch?
People say the scariest things about that place.
Let me guess, a red-eyed lizard monster? Some kind of mythical dragon?
A prehistoric monster that lives there in a world of its own?
A bit like the Loch Ness Monster?
Don't tell me you believe that nonsense.
No, of course not.
So let's go then.
Only if your mom says yes.
I don't believe the stories either.
I'm sure there's a perfectly natural and scientific explanation.
This site has been closed to preserve the habitat of bats.
As Graham said, it must be a tourist getting a little bit too curious.
It would really help me out if you headed down there and had a look.
Take Lassie with you.
Let's go!
Hi, Lassie. What's on the agenda for today?
Will you be saving some tourists? Fighting a forest fire?
Foiling some evil poachers, maybe?
No, we're going to investigate a series of strange sightings over at Devil's Grin Gulch.
Strange sightings? You mean like monsters here in the park?
Why, are you volunteering to come with us?
What, me? No, of course not.
Hurry!
Yeah, give me a second.
Oh, brother.
So, this is Devil's Grin Gulch, huh?
Look, it's been broken.
It would take something awfully strong to break a lock like that, wouldn't it?
Relax, Harvey. There's no such thing as monsters.
I know, but if monsters did exist, this is definitely where they'd live.
Let's see.
What? Zoe, your mother forbade us to go in here.
Now, that's not true, is it?
No, maybe not.
Oh, come on, Harvey. You heard what my mom said. There's probably a perfectly logical explanation.
Probably? You first.
What's that noise?
I don't know.
Definitely monsters, because they're definitely not real.
Beck, look out!
Is it over? Are you okay? Am I okay? Are we okay?
Uh, I think so.
I'm fine, Lassie. Don't worry.
Oh, no!
Poor little thing. It looks like it's got a broken wing.
Let's get it back to the clinic and show Mom.
Great idea. Let's not stay here.
Come on, Lassie.
That was terrifying. Did you see those bats?
They looked completely psycho.
I wonder why.
Come on, Lassie. We have to go.
It's sleeping. Aw, she's so cute.
I must confess, she's mighty pretty. But why did she attack us?
It's not because of rabies, anyway, or any other diseases.
That bat is in perfect health, apart from a broken wing, of course.
But what would cause all those bats to swarm at us like that?
I'm not sure. It's very unusual for entire colonies to venture out of their habitat during daylight hours.
But that's just what they did.
So maybe it wasn't us at all.
Maybe it was something inside the gulch that spooked them and drove them out.
Something like, oh, I don't know, a monster?
You think there's still an intruder in the cave?
Of course, Lassie. That's what you were trying to say to us at the gulch earlier.
And that's what worries me. I have total faith in Lassie's instincts.
Want to go back there with me, girl?
I'll come with you.
Wait, what if the prehistoric monster story were true?
I mean, there is often an element of truth in legends, don't you reckon?
Personally, as a scientist, I believe in facts, not legends.
Come on, Harvey, come with us. If the monster does exist, it'll be even more fun.
Fun? You didn't look so funny when those bats came at you earlier.
Ah, spoiled sport.
Friends, there's no way to sugarcoat this, so I'm going to give it to you straight.
Lassie told me that there's a mega super scary monster on the list in the park.
Who said that?
The creature from Devil's Grim Gulch.
But don't worry. We're not going to sit back like helpless victims.
We're going to take action.
I know what action I'm taking. I'm flying far, far away.
The way I see it, we have two choices.
One, we head over to Devil's Grim Gulch and kick this monster's butt right now.
You are joking, right?
Or two, we barricade ourselves here in the barn and hide until Lassie saves the day.
Yes!
Definitely the second one.
Yay, Lassie!
One thing's for sure. No monster would bother putting the broken lock back on that gate.
And they sure wouldn't use bolt cutters. Thanks, Lassie.
I told you. There's always a perfectly rational explanation.
When we find this person, I'll be having a few stern words with them.
People always think monsters are stupid. Maybe this one is intelligent.
Really? I can't wait to meet him.
Hey, Mr. Monster. How's it going? Great place you've got here.
Ha ha. In any case, something scared those bats, and I want to find out what it was.
Hear that? It's that sound again.
Yeah. And the lower we go, the louder it gets.
Be careful, kids. Hold on to the handrail and watch your footing.
Here we are.
Whoa. Looks like teeth.
Devil's Grin, of course. Now I get it.
It's just the wind blowing through the cave. These tunnels are like bagpipes.
Couldn't it play a cheerier tune?
Yeah. Like maybe something not so scary and ominous?
It's all in your head, kid.
Just breathe, relax, and focus on getting down these stairs.
A monster wouldn't know how to turn the light on.
Whatever it is, I hope it doesn't turn them off.
Whoa. Hey, wait. Look at the stone. That shape is really funny.
It looks like...
Beautiful.
Easy.
It's just a natural formation. Limestone, water, and time. No monsters, just Mother Nature.
Mother Nature isn't the one spooking the bats.
You're right.
Where did you find that?
Down there, on the ground, on top of that hole over there.
Say, Houdini, what is your role here?
My role? I'm head of quality control.
Appraising these energy bars requires my full attention. Believe me.
Yeah.
Blooper, what are you waiting for? Put your back into it.
Blooper.
Beth?
That's not the wind.
And those are no backpipes. It sounds like...
Hey, buddies. We're...
Blooper? Beth? Is that you?
Houdini!
It's nice that you came to join us.
There's no point, Blooper. There's not enough space.
So we're done for, guys. Trapped in this sewerage tunnel.
Don't be afraid. My sense of direction is second to none. This way, everybody.
Not too fast back there.
Not too slow in front.
There! An exit!
At last!
Come on, Blooper!
Blooper! Blooper! Blooper! Blooper!
No. It's impossible.
Something down here is definitely spooking those bats.
Exactly. And we're going to find out what it is.
Or rather, who he is.
Because Mother Nature wouldn't need a flashlight.
Or a can opener. Someone is camping down here illegally.
It's not a monster. It's just a person.
Hey, come see this.
Cute. It looks like a tree.
If it were a tree, it'd be a baobab.
It's wonderful.
Mother Nature sure is full of surprises.
What?
There's a monster in the cave!
Nick! You're crazy to scare us like that. What are you doing here? You camp here?
Yeah, but speak more quietly. Humphrey told me to.
He wants to start offering new tours in these caverns and wanted me to check them out first.
Let's head back. Graham can take this up with you and Humphrey.
But what about the monster?
Don't you get it? The only monster here is you, Nick.
You're camping illegally and wreaking havoc on the natural ecosystem of these caves.
No! I mean, yes, I am doing that.
But I'm not the only one down here. You have to believe me. There's something else.
It was probably your own shadow.
Speak quietly.
I told you there was a rational explanation for all this.
It's a monster! It's the monster!
It's coming for me!
No, Nick. It's just some kind of skin.
It's a snake skin.
A snake skin?
All reptiles shed their skin until they've grown to their adult size.
That's a pretty big skin for a not-grown-up snake.
It's a python.
A python? How did it get here?
Pythons aren't native to this area.
Or even this continent.
A python? It's a python monster!
Nick, it's just a skin. Get down.
But if it's a skin, where's the snake that shed it?
There! That's it!
No! Let him go!
Lassie!
Zoe, look!
Mom? Mom, what's wrong?
She's scared, Zoe.
Scared?
There is one thing that does scare me.
Snakes.
I'm tired of walking.
I want to get out of here!
I want to fly!
Look on the bright side.
It's a great place to hide from the monster in the park.
Unless we get stuck in here.
Haven't we already come this way?
It's gone! Let's get out of here!
No way. Sarah has a problem.
We have to help her first.
What's wrong with her?
She's scared of snakes.
She never treated a snake before?
Never that big.
It must have taken you a lot of courage to take care of all the little ones you've cared for.
Yes, but that courage is failing me today.
Mom, listen. Remember what you told us?
It's all in your mind. You remember?
When I was little and I was scared of the monster under my bed,
you used to tell me to imagine it shrinking until it was tiny.
Can you do that with the snake?
Okay.
Feeling better?
Okay, can we leave now?
No. We can't leave the python here.
Someone must have let it loose in the park and we have to capture it.
What?
If we leave the python here, it could devastate the park's ecosystem.
It's already putting the bats in danger.
Mom, you're scared of...
I have to do it, Zoe.
Hey, stop! There's no way I'm staying here.
We have to.
Just tell yourself that python is just as scared of us as we are of it.
I don't really doubt that.
But how are we going to capture a snake that big?
We have to confine it to a narrow space, then trap it in a...
Back home, Lassie?
Is this narrow enough?
How do you think we'll put the snake in that?
Are you sure you want to do it?
Okay, be careful.
So let me understand this.
Your plan is for Lassie to find the snake, bring it back here, and lure it inside my sleeping bag?
Yeah. Do you have a better idea?
Going back home sounds good to me.
Okay, okay.
This is perfect!
Okay, let's get to work.
Can I just mention that if the snake bites us, we don't have any antidote.
Don't worry, Nick. His bite isn't poisonous.
Guys, look over there! It's the way out!
I wonder if I didn't exaggerate this whole monster story.
They're coming!
Don't be scared. It'll be fine. We have Lassie.
And I have both of you.
Lassie! Hey, Lassie! This way!
Be strong!
Mommy! Oh, Mommy!
Now!
Ready? Now!
Yeah! Hold on, Mom! I heard you!
I might have forgotten to tell you something. There's a hole in this sleeping bag!
Are you okay, Mom?
Yeah. Yes, I'm fine now.
It's okay. He's calming down now.
It's because his head is covered. A lot of animals react like that in the dark.
Are you all right, kids?
Yeah, but this guy weighs a ton!
Two tons would be more exact. Lassie said three!
Yes. Of course. Thanks.
I knew I could count on you. Goodbye.
I found a reptile protection group to take care of him.
They say it happens a lot.
People buy them when they're small and then abandon them in the wild when they get too big.
I've heard about that before.
Did you know there are giant crocodiles living in the Paris sewers?
And packs of foxes roaming London?
No, no, no! No, there aren't!
Enough with the monster stores for today!
Lassie agrees with me, don't you, girl?
Without your help, I'd never have been able to get over my fear.
Or catch that snake. Thank you so much.
We're all scared of something, Mom.
And you're the one who taught me how to get over my fears.
Maybe because it's barricaded from the other side.
And whose fault is that?
Now's not the time to start playing the blame game, people.
We could head back down into the sewer.
Okay, forget what I just said. I'll figure something else out.
Get home safely, little buddy.
How about we head home, too?
Yes!
Guys, I think I found a new way!
