In this video, I dive into one of the most underused yet powerful points in Master Tung's acupuncture system—San Cha San. I break down its unique characteristics, its incredible functions, and why it holds a special place in my practice. This video is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Young Wei Chieh, one of my most respected teachers, who passed away this month. San Cha San was one of his favorite points, and I hope to honor his legacy by sharing its wisdom with you.
Hi, today I'm bringing you one of the most underused points in Master Tongue's system,
which is Sancha San.
I'm making this video in honor of Dr. Yang Wei Chieh.
He was one of the most well-known Master Tongue disciples, especially in the West, and he
is one of my main influences, I was lucky enough to study under him, but also his books
were my first entry into Master Tongue's world, and are also, still today, one of the main
references I use when I'm preparing classes, or when I need to study something for a patient
or for a difficult case.
So it was very sad to learn that Dr. Yang passed away, and because of that I decided
to honor him, making a video about one of his favorite points, which is Sancha San.
Sancha San is one of Master Tongue's points, but in my opinion, it is not as well-known
as it should, and it's especially not used to the degree it should, because it's a very
versatile and very potent point.
Everybody knows from Master Tongue's system, Lingu Dabai, the Three Emperors, the Four
Horses.
If you don't know these points, I already have one video exclusively about Lingu and
Dabai, but I can make videos about the Emperors or the Four Horses, so let me know in the
comments if you want to learn more about these points.
But today we're talking about Sancha San.
Sancha San, as you can see in the image, is a point located in the hand.
It is in between the joints, and it goes through your hand, and you will needle it towards
the inside of your hand.
This point has an amazingly wide array of indications, and it is a very powerful point.
It can be added to a lot of different treatments, and it can really improve your results.
So what are the classical indications for this point?
The point can treat diseases of the five senses, can treat fatigue, it is one of the best points
to strengthen kidney, can treat headaches, it can treat problems related to the ear,
such as tinnitus, it can be used to treat lower back pain, and even sciatica.
So as you can see, a very wide array of applications.
And why is this point so versatile?
First, even if we just look at its anatomy, where it's located, and which channels are
around it, we can already start to see its potential.
So if we look at how deep this point goes, and in the hand, we can see that it will cross
the small intestine, the triple warmer, and the heart meridians.
So even if you're just thinking about the balance method system, you can see that it
can balance a lot of channels.
And being in an image that can represent the head, it's obvious why it can work to treat
headaches, or even problems related to the ear, such as tinnitus.
And if you reverse the image, it turns obvious again why it can treat lower back pain, even
pain in the hip, and sciatica, because the hand can also be an image of the lower back,
and of the hip joint.
But why is this point so amazing to strengthen kidney?
It is one of the best points, in my opinion, to treat kidney deficiency.
Well, for that, we need to go a little bit deeper than the channels of TCM, and we need
to think about the shengjing.
The shengjing is a concept specific to Mastodong, and it is most commonly translated as nerve.
So if you read Dr. Yang's works, you will see that in a lot of points, he will tell
you this point has the nerve of the heart, or the nerve of the kidney, or the nerve of
the lung.
If you like this kind of content, check out the courses that I have available.
You can see them here in the links above, or in the description below.
I have courses in Portuguese and in English, so check them out.
If you read other authors, you will see that instead of calling it nerve, they can call
it reaction area.
This is the same concept.
This is the shengjing.
And Mastodong has five main shengjing, which are the lung, the heart, the liver, the spleen,
and the kidney.
Not to be confused with the meridians from TCM, which have the same names.
These are, we can call them, proprietary channels to Mastodong.
We have other shengjing from Mastodong, such as the sex-fu shengjing, or even the uterus
or brain shengjing, but for now, let's focus only on the main five shengjing.
These are not to be confused with the TCM channels, and according to Mastodong's theory,
the shengjing are deeper than the meridians that we know, and they just surface along
in the areas where we have points.
And what makes Sanchasan such a great point to treat the kidney is that it has the shengjing,
or the reaction area, or the nerve of the kidney.
One important thing regarding the shengjing, and that makes it very different from the
Chinese meridians, is that it treats not only the TCM concept of what's the liver or
what's the heart, but it actually treats the organ.
So any point that has the shengjing, the kidney, will treat the physical kidney, the organ.
And that's why Sanchasan can be used to treat any problem related to the anatomical kidney.
Along with the physical kidney, you can also treat the TCM concept of water and the kidney.
So with Sanchasan, you can treat what we would call kidney deficiency, which can bring us
to why this point is so good for lower back pain, or for fatigue.
It's an amazing point to use in older people, where the energy of their kidney is not so good.
And even if you think of how you're needling this point, so you will close your hand and
you'll bring your needle from the outside into the inside of your hand.
It's almost as if you're bringing the energy from the outside towards your yin, towards
your kidney.
This is an amazing point, and I urge you to use it in combination with the treatments
that you're already doing, following either the indications that I talked about, or just
the notion that it will help strengthen the kidney.
Thank you for watching.
