SpaceX Demolished High Bay! Major Launchpad B Upgrade Ramp up...
Radical change is inevitable for Starbase as Starship enters its next era. No structure is exempt, even those that have played a crucial role in the past. The High Bay, the smallest structure at the current Production Site, will soon be dismantled to make way for larger, more advanced systems.
Meanwhile, construction of the new launch pad is accelerating, signaling SpaceX’s commitment to scaling up operations. At the same time, the first details about Starship V3 have begun to emerge, hinting at the next major leap in the vehicle’s evolution.
How are these changes unfolding, and what do they mean for the future of Starship? Let’s dive in and explore the latest developments!
SpaceX Demolished High Bay! Major Launchpad B Upgrade Ramp up...
For those who have followed Starship’s journey from the beginning, the evolution of Starbase—from its production facilities to its launch infrastructure—has been nothing short of remarkable. Now, another major transformation is on the horizon, one that will reshape the production site once again.
The production system at Starbase has undergone dramatic changes over the years. In the early days, the site was defined by structures like Mid Bay, Low Bay, and the original Production Tents, which played a crucial role in the early development of Starship prototypes. At that time, High Bay was the largest and most prominent facility, towering over the rest of the site. It was essential for assembling and stacking the first Super Heavy boosters and early Starship prototypes. However, as SpaceX scaled up operations, newer and larger facilities such as Mega Bay, Mega Bay 2, and the ever-expanding Starfactory emerged, rendering High Bay the smallest major structure in the system. With the company’s ambitious plans for the future, High Bay’s time has come to an end.
SpaceX Demolished High Bay! Major Launchpad B Upgrade Ramp up...
Recently, SpaceX fenced off the ring yard area of the production site, setting up guard booths and clearing the way for High Bay’s demolition. Unlike the previous dismantling of smaller structures, removing High Bay will be a much larger and more complex process. If work begins this week, demolition could be completed as soon as next week. After that, the area will be cleared and prepared for the construction of a more advanced and larger facility to replace it.
Before we say goodbye, it’s worth reflecting on the immense contributions of High Bay. Built between June and July 2020, the facility stands 80 meters tall, designed to accommodate the towering 70-meter Super Heavy booster. With a width and depth of 20 to 25 meters, it provided enough space to assemble multiple prototypes simultaneously.

booster with a width and depth of 20 to
25 M it provided enough space to
assemble multiple prototypes
simultaneously over the years hibe
played a pivotal role in the development
of numerous Starship and super heavy
prototypes it supported the stacking of
Starships sn8 through s28 and
contributed to the partial assembly of
s29 through s32 it was also instrumental
in the construction of several super
heavy boosters including B4 B5 and early
sections of B7 and 8 however as
production demands grew High base
capacity proved insufficient for
assembling multiple super Heavies at
once a task that was eventually shifted
to meab Bay with this transition highay
took on a new role supporting ship
assembly a function previously handled
by mid Bay as even more advanced
facilities emerged most notably meabay 2
high Bay's function evolved once again
it became a hub for refurbishment work
post test inspections component checks
and even the disassembly of obsolete
prototypes like s26 and s32 some of the
most historically significant Starship
prototypes were closely tied to hibe
including sn15 the first fully
successful test vehicle s20 the first
ship to be fully stacked with superheavy
and equipped with a heat shield s24 the
first integrated flight prototype and S2
6 known for its distinctive design High
Bay's Legacy is undeniable it was an
essential part of starship's early
development helping SpaceX push the
boundaries of what was possible but as
Starship moves into its next phase an
even more powerful successor will take
its place Giga Bay first announced late
last year Giga Bay was officially
revealed when SpaceX posted a hiring
notice for engineers at Starbase Texas
specifically mentioning the project by
name initial details were scar but an
update in January provided new insights
especially as a similar structure Giga
Bay Florida began taking shape Giga Bay
will stand an incredible 388 ft or 118 M
tall with the main structure reaching
approximately 380 ft or 116 M while its
width and depth have yet to be confirmed
renderings suggest a significantly
larger footprint than hibe notably it
will feature dual entry points
maximizing internal workspace for
simultaneous assembly and refurbishment
of multiple starships and super heavy
boosters given its massive scale the
existing High Bay footprint likely won't
be sufficient SpaceX is expected to
expand the area potentially doubling the
original High Bay space and extending
toward Highway 4 which is currently used
as a parking lot once completed Giga Bay
will fully support every stage of
Starship development from assembly and
integration to refurbishment and
inspection working in tandem with
starfactory it'll dramatically
accelerate production to meet the
growing demand for Starship launches
this transformation won't be limited to
Starbase SpaceX is also planning to
expand its Florida operations by
developing a similar Giga Bay and star
Factory complex at the Robert Road
facility if construction remains on
schedule both sites could be operational
by August next year significantly
boosting starship's production and
launch capacity
with these upgrades SpaceX is preparing
for an era of Rapid Starship production
pushing toward weekly and eventually
daily launches The increased efficiency
and scale of production will be crucial
for Missions to the Moon Mars and Beyond
as SpaceX continues to refine its launch
infrastructure and vehicle design gigaby
role in making Starship the backbone of
human space exploration despite these
exciting advancements it's important to
acknowledge the foundational role
structures like hibe played in getting
SpaceX to this point its retirement
marks the end of an era but also signals
the beginning of an even more ambitious
phase in starship's development as we
prepare to say farewell let's take a
moment to appreciate High based
contributions over the past four years
it has been at the heart of spacex's
most groundbreaking achievements helping
to bring Starship from concept to
reality now as SpaceX moves forward
gigabayte Legacy bigger better and more
capable than ever before so before high

stay updated on spacex's incredible
journey into the future in addition to
advancing its production system SpaceX
is also accelerating work on its launch
infrastructure with the installation of
the Chopsticks and Gantry system
completed the focus at pad B has has now
shifted to the flame trench system a
crucial component that will enhance the
durability and efficiency of future
Starship launches the construction
process for the flame trench follows a
structured sequence after excavation
multiple layers of concrete are poured
to create a solid foundation then the
flame bucket which has been under
construction at the Sanchez site will be
transported to pad B for installation
once in place another layer of concrete
will be poured to integrate the flame
bucket into the system progress on this
critical phase is now well underway on
the evening of the 16th of March Texas
time the first batch of concrete trucks
arrived at launch sight pad B to begin
the initial pouring phase however given
the massive scale of the Starship
Launchpad a significant volume of
concrete was required by the end of the
16th 22 trucks had delivered their loads
over the next 18 hours on March 17th an
additional 214 trucks arrived bringing
the total count to
236 the final number may have been even
higher possibly reaching 350 truckloads
of concrete an enormous logistical
effort images and video footage reveal
that site preparation including cleaning
and the placement of Steel
reinforcements was completed before the
pouring began these reinforcements are
essential for ensuring the stability and
longevity of the LaunchPad alongside the
concrete deliveries the water Deluge
pipe system has also been continuously
transported to pad B given this pace it
may not be long before the orbital
launch Mount system and the flame bucket
are moved into position overall pad B's
construction is entering its final
stages if SpaceX maintains this momentum
pad B could be fully operational by
flight 10 the mission where SpaceX hopes
to achieve its first midair catch of a
returning Starship not only are the
ground systems undergoing major upgrades
but the Starship vehicle itself is also
on the verge of a significant transition
since the beginning of the year SpaceX
has been developing and testing the V2
iteration of Starship with s33 being the
first prototype of this new version so
far two V2 prototypes s33 and 34 have
flown but both met early ends leaving
many of their intended upgrades and new
capabilities unproven despite these
setbacks SpaceX has continued its V2
production and testing efforts currently
S35 is undergoing testing in preparation
of flight 9 while s36 is still under
construction and features the official
catching pin system a key upgrade for
future recovery attempts on the 16th the
first section of s37 including the nose
cone and payload section was transported
to meabay 2 signaling steady progress
meanwhile components of s38 are likely
still in production at starfactory
however it appears that the V2 era may
be coming to an end a recent image from
starfactory revealed what is believed to
be the liquid oxygen header tank for s39
while the full shape of the component
remains unclear it appears noticeably
larger than previous header tanks
feeling speculation that s39 could be
the first Starship V3 prototype as for
the schedual SpaceX still has multiple
flights planned before s39 S35 and
flight 9 are expected to launch in April
and if successful the company could
maintain a steady launch rate of
approximately one flight per month based
on this pace s39 potentially the first
V3 prototype could fly as early as
August though a more realistic estimate
would Place flight 13 in the last
quarter of the year of course the
transition to V3 will require additional
modifications Beyond Starship itself
super heavy will also need upgrades and
adjustments to the production and launch
systems will be necessary to to
accommodate the new version however V3
is undeniably on the horizon bringing
Starship closer to achieving its full
potential the Starship program is
advancing rapidly across all fronts
signaling an unprecedented shift in
Aerospace technology with each new
development SpaceX moves closer to
enabling a new era of space exploration
