Welcome back to China in Focus, I'm Tiffany Mayer.
The Chinese authorities are taking steps to fight bird flu in humans.
The state health agency has just released a statement
encouraging all health care workers across the country
to monitor the spread of various viruses.
Viruses mentioned in the statement include influenza,
COVID-19, TBD, norovirus, monkey flu, bird flu,
and various other infectious diseases.
The statement also asked the local CDC
to closely monitor the transmission of viruses from animals to humans.
Earlier this month, the southern city of China
launched the first series of bird flu tests on humans
after the statement.
The local CDC collected samples from experts
exposed to poultry and livestock.
NTD previously reported bird flu infection on humans in China
from eyewitnesses, reports, and whistleblowers
from the medical supply industry.
Lately, more and more reports have emerged
from the short video platform China Toyin,
the Chinese version of TikTok.
One of them came from someone who admitted
to being a CDC employee in the southern city of Shenzhen.
He said the more human cases of bird flu infection in his area,
Shenzhen is a metropolitan city located next to Hong Kong.
Someone also said he saw a patient with bird flu infection
sent to an isolation room.
Other eyewitnesses also repeated the statement.
One Chinese internet user said
many cities have built isolation centers
on the side of the toll road,
which are usually far from residential houses.
