Flat Tire Adventures
This is the last video from my trip from David to Panama City with the Pirata Riders. I got 2 flats in less than 20 miles on the way from the camp site in Chorerra to Panama City. The guys saved my bacon. They quickly broke out tools, ran into town for a patch kit, and basically did all the work while I filmed. If it was me doing all the work while the other guy took pictures I would have been pretty annoyed, but I needed to capture what was happening. Spending so much time on the side of the road sweating like had me very close to heat exhaustion by the time we reached Panama City. I had a wicked headache, and was pretty shaky. I wandered into a restaurant and had a difficult time counting out $1.75 for a bottle of water. I bought a new tire, and while the guys worked to install it I walked inside Albrook mall to buy some Gatorades for everyone. I offered one to Brigado, the guy who had done most of the work each time I had a flat. He sucked it down faster than I've ever seen a man drink anything. Gravity was not getting the liquid out of that bottle fast enough, he literally sucked it down. After watching it disappear in a blink I reached in the bag and handed him another one. Leaving Panama City for home we were drenched in rain. The ride home seemed to take forever, and we made it back to David well after dark. Mostly because of the problems I had with my tire. I told them once they should just leave me, I'll get the tire fixed and stay a night in Panama City. I wanted to take some time getting more video of the city anyway but they told me, "We started together, we finish together."
