It's not a stretch to say this is the best version of Charlotte FC Miami's ever seen.
To be frank, there are probably ten logical choices for this, but we're telling you these
are the players to watch.
Here, set for first kick, and into Miami, underway against Charlotte FC before the traditional
packed house on this Sunday afternoon, all leading up to Sunday night soccer.
Quickly by Charlotte FC, and they work this ball out wide.
Good pressure early for the visiting side, they go for Ajiman in the 18, the ball never arrives.
Tries to pull that back, met immediately by two defenders.
Allende does well to control, gives here to Alba at the edge of the 18, plays this in,
and that's cleared away.
Malanda got there, and conceding the corner is Charlotte.
Top of the box, it will fall for Busquets, does well.
Allende tries to work this across, loose ball, that's fired by Kramaski, gave it a go,
and right into the waiting arms of Kalina.
Great strike from Kramaski, but this is what you're going to get from both your wingers.
Come in inside, so it's on one side to Allende.
Ball falls to Kramaski a little bit, fortunately.
It's a wonderful strike, but Kalina saw it all the way.
Good positioning right in the middle of the goal.
Good play from into Miami.
Sergio Busquets, who's laboring a bit as play continues, will watch Zaha in the meantime.
Zaha finds another gear here, whips a ball across.
Oh, he had two, making a run.
It's deflected out off Miami in a corner.
Stripped away from him, wanted the foul call.
Instead, played ahead.
Ajiman will get on this.
He's got support coming.
Now, Ajiman takes the shot.
It is wide of goal, blocked out.
It's a corner for Charlotte.
Talk about Charlotte outnumbering into Miami in midfield.
It's exactly what they do.
The ball's played through then to Ajiman.
Give credit here to Avalese.
He doesn't dive in.
He says to Ajiman, you're going to go that way to match.
Westwood curls one towards the far post.
They get a second head on it, cleaned up by Jordi Alba.
Zaha trying to turn.
There's a yellow card coming out of the pocket of Guido Gonzalez Jr.
And the first booking of the afternoon.
Teams seeking their first win of the season.
Charlotte going long, trying to get a touch to this.
It's Zaha.
He's hauled down.
Let's see what the referee, Gonzalez, says.
Pulling the card out of the pocket.
It is straight red.
It's a huge call.
And the reason that I say it's such a massive call,
because do you have players that can retreat,
that can get back behind the ball?
The referee's assumption and answer is no.
He believes that if Zaha would have got past Ustadi here,
he could have put the ball into the back of an empty net.
And it's wonderful running from Zaha in this.
Westwood.
Pepelle.
The choices over the free kick for Charlotte.
Straight for goal, and off the top of the netting.
Ross Ream gets ahead to it.
Allende.
And is that the final touch of the half?
Indeed, it is.
Will we see the entrance of Lionel Messi,
who played a role in Miami?
Second half begins.
There is a substitution for Miami.
Ian Frey enters.
Aviles will come out of the game.
What does that mean for Lujan?
I think it means Lujan,
we know that he can play in that right-sided,
center-back position.
So he'll go over to Aaron Frey,
then just go to the right-back position.
It makes sense as well,
because we spoke about it in the first half with Aviles.
He gets targeted by opposition players.
Allende to bring this ball down cleanly.
Gets it back from Suarez.
Chests it down.
Allende, go!
That right out of the gate, second half.
And Inter Miami strikes first, playing with 10.
Coming out of the dressing room late.
Not in this situation.
It was Sharla that was caught cold.
And it's the initial ball from Lujan,
who we just mentioned going into that center-back position.
And then the link-up between both Allende and Suarez
is absolutely brilliant.
Watch this ball from Suarez.
He knows that both center-backs are out of the equation,
because Allende plays the ball and continues his run.
He knows if he makes the run, Suarez is going to find him.
He does that, then he finds the back of the net.
What an opening to the second half for Inter Miami.
And you can see exactly what it means to...
They'll be proud of this, undoubtedly, Miami, if they hold.
It's such a taxing way to play, though,
as this ball has sailed wide.
And it's happening too often in the early portion of the season.
The sun has dipped behind the grandstand now,
as we watch Biel with his team down a goal.
Zaha works it across.
Hit it just wide!
And there was the chance for Petr Gajiman,
looking for his first of the year.
You can see his reaction to it.
He's got his head in his hands.
It's a wonderful ball from Zaha.
He knows that he should at least be testing Reyes-Novo.
He gets himself into a really good position,
but he just can't find that bottom corner.
He'll be desperately disappointed that he didn't hit the target,
because it's a big opportunity for him.
Ten goals...
Tabarch, a three-goal score last season.
Settled here by Zaha.
Wilfred Zaha works it across.
Over the heading.
Cutting Taklamati towards the fourth official
in a 1-0 game.
Taken away.
Now Gajiman at the edge of the 18,
able to work this ahead chance here for Sterling.
And that skimmed off the far post!
Their best chance to equalize.
Really good play.
He just runs off Gajiman there.
Gets in a great position in such a difficult angle.
You just see from this replay,
just hits the post.
Now Byrne.
Byrne.
Able to get the cross away.
Loose in the 18.
Trying to find the handle is Zaha.
Defended away by Inter-Miami.
It is out for a corner.
Long day at the office so far.
His service broken up.
There's Bright again with the block.
Yellow card out of the pocket.
Noah Allen.
Wastes a few more seconds,
and now here we go.
Vargas with the corner.
Up for that Milando over the bar.
Without one man,
and it makes life difficult.
The final whistle blows.
10-man Inter-Miami.
And Ian Frey,
who was in the middle of a dispute
that led to a red card last week.
