10 most advanced military drones in the world.
10. Bayraktar Akinci
Bayraktar Akinci is a HALE, high-altitude, long-endurance, drone capable of flying at an
altitude of nearly 14 kilometers for up to 24 hours. This Turkish UAV is a large machine,
measuring 12.3 meters in length, with a wingspan of 20 meters. Its maximum take-off weight is 6
tons, with a payload capacity of up to 1,500 kilograms. The drone, designed by Baykar Makina,
can carry a wide range of armaments on its nine hardpoints. It is powered by turboprop
engines producing 450 horsepower each, making it a reconnaissance and strike platform,
capable of carrying up to eight bombs or guided missiles with a range of several dozen kilometers.
Apart from Turkey, other operators include Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia.
9. Wing Loong 2
The Chengdu GJ-2, also known as Wing Loong 2, is a UAV developed by the Chengdu Aircraft
Industry Group in China. It made its maiden flight in 2017 and can operate remotely or
autonomously. The drone is 11 meters long, has a wingspan of 20.5 meters, and a height of 4.1
meters. With a maximum take-off weight of 4.2 tons, it can carry up to 12 laser-guided bombs
or missiles with a total payload of 480 kilograms. Its jet engine allows speeds of up to 370
kilometers per hour, while its satellite communication system enables global reach.
It features a low radar cross-section and stealth coating. With an endurance of 32 hours and a range
of over 10,000 kilometers, the Wing Loong 2 can perform continent-wide surveillance and
long-duration missions. 8. Hongdu GJ-11
The Hongdu GJ-11 is a Chinese UCAV designed for striking heavily defended ground targets
deep within enemy territory. Its first flight reportedly took place on November 21,
2013, and after years of testing and modifications, it was officially introduced into service in late
2020. The GJ-11 has a flying wing designed to reduce its radar signature. It has a maximum
take-off weight of approximately 10 tons and a payload capacity of 2 tons. The drone can reach
speeds of up to 1,000 kilometers per hour, with an operational combat radius of 1,200 kilometers
and a total range of 4,000 kilometers. It has a service ceiling of 12.5 kilometers,
length of 12.2 meters, and a wingspan of 14 meters. The GJ-11 carries weapons both internally
and on external hardpoints, with two internal bomb bays capable of housing 500-kilogram glide
bombs each. 7. S-70 Okhotnik
The S-70 Okhotnik is a heavy Russian unmanned combat aerial vehicle, UCAV, developed by Sukhoi
under the Okhotnik program. The drone made its maiden flight in 2019 and incorporates technologies
from the Su-57 fighter jet, including its engine. The airframe is designed with stealth characteristics
and follows a flying wing configuration. It has a wingspan of 19 meters, a length of 14 meters,
and a take-off weight of 25 tons, with a weapons payload of nearly 3 tons. Russian officials plan
for the S-70 to carry hypersonic Kh-47, M2 Kinzhal missiles, and other munitions stored within two
internal weapon bays, each 4.5 meters long. The S-70 is expected to serve as a loyal wingman,
supporting manned aircraft by taking on high-risk tasks and drawing enemy fire away from piloted
jets. 6. MQ-9 Reaper
The MQ-9 Reaper, also known as Predator B, is an American UCAV developed by General Atomics
and used primarily by the US Air Force and the RAF. It is the first hunter-killer drone,
an advanced successor to the MQ-1 Predator. The MQ-9 can carry up to 1,360 kilograms of weapons
across six hardpoints. It is powered by a 950-horsepower turboprop engine, significantly
stronger than the MQ-1's 119-horsepower piston engine. This power boost allows the MQ-9 to fly
15 times the distance and three times the speed of its predecessor, with a range of 5,900 kilometers.
It is one of the largest, heaviest, and most advanced drones worldwide. The MQ-9 measures
11 meters in length and has a wingspan of 20 meters. Its operators include the United States,
United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, and Poland.
Number 5. RQ-4 Global Hawk
The RQ-4 Global Hawk, developed by Northrop Grumman, is a UAV capable of conducting 24-hour
reconnaissance missions from an altitude of 20 kilometers. It first flew in 1998,
and the US military received a prototype in 1999. It does not require nearby airfields,
as it can launch from the US and conduct missions globally. The drone is autonomous
and can execute missions without operator input. It is equipped with advanced sensors for all
weather, day and night operations. The RQ-4 is 13.4 meters long, 4.6 meters high, and has a wingspan
of 35.5 meters. In 2014, it completed a record-breaking 34-hour flight without aerial refueling.
Number 4. BAE Taranis
The BAE Taranis is a British UCAV. Developed by BAE Systems under the Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle
program, named after the Celtic god Taranis, its first flight took place on August 10,
2013. Still in development, it is expected to enter service around 2030. The drone measures
over 11 meters in length, 4 meters in height, and has a wingspan of 10 meters. It features a
flying wing design for stealth purposes. Powered by a Rolls-Royce engine, it can reach speeds
between 800 and 1,100 kilometers per hour. The Taranis can be remotely controlled or
operate fully autonomously, including executing attacks independently.
Number 3. MQ-28 Ghostbat
Designed by Boeing Australia, the MQ-28 Ghostbat first flew in 2021. Originally named
Loyal Wingman, it was developed to support human pilots with AI-assisted autonomous flight.
It is designed to collaborate with fighter jets like the F-35. The UAV measures 11 meters in
length, with a wingspan of 7.3 meters, and has a range exceeding 3,000 kilometers.
It features a modular weapon bay with a 2.5 meter cargo hold. The Ghostbat can perform
high-risk missions, including strikes on heavily defended targets.
Number 2. MQ-20 Avenger
The General Atomics Avenger, also known as Predator C, is an advanced US military drone
that first flew in 2009. The MQ-20 Avenger is 13 meters long, has a wingspan of 20 meters,
a height of about 3 meters, and weighs approximately 8 tons. It has a payload
capacity of over 8 tons, enabling it to carry Hellfire missiles and GBU-12-49 laser-guided
bombs. Its advanced engine allows it to reach altitudes above 16 kilometers and speeds of 740
kilometers per hour. Featuring stealth characteristics, the Avenger is one of the
advanced and lethal military drones. In 2021, it was successfully operated by AI during US
Air Force tests. Number 1. X-47B Pegasus
The Northrop Grumman X-47 Pegasus is a UCAV designed for aircraft carrier operations.
It features stealth technology and an endurance of 12 hours. The drone is designed as a flying
wing to minimize radar cross-section. It is powered by a Pratt & Whitney F100-220U turbofan
engine, the same engine used in F-15 and F-16 jets. The X-47B is 11.6 meters long,
3.1 meters high, and has an 18.9 meter wingspan. It has a service ceiling of 12 kilometers and a
range of about 4,000 kilometers. It carries up to 2 tons of payload, in two internal weapon
bays, and is capable of aerial refueling. If you liked the video, leave thumb up and
