Nicolas Cage is one of the most captivating actors in Hollywood. His intense performances,
eclectic film choices, and dramatic personal life have kept him in the spotlight for decades.
Born Nicolas Kim Coppola on January 7, 1964, in Long Beach, California, he hails from the famous
Coppola family—his father, August Coppola, was a literature professor, and his uncle, Francis
Ford Coppola, is a legendary director. From a young age, Cage was passionate about acting.
He attended Beverly Hills High School but later dropped out to pursue a full-time acting career.
His big break came with the 1983 film Valley Girl, which launched his career and solidified him as
a rising star. Over the years, he starred in an impressive range of films, including Leaving Las
Vegas, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Actor, Face Off, National Treasure, and many more.
Despite his Hollywood success, his personal life has been nothing short of a rollercoaster, making
headlines just as much as his acting career. His first serious relationship was with actress
Christina Fulton in 1988, but the couple broke up shortly after welcoming their only
son Weston in 1990. Cage’s first marriage was to actress Patricia Arquette in 1995. At the time,
they seemed like a perfect match, but their relationship faced significant challenges,
leading to their separation in 2000 and eventual divorce in 2001. In 2002, Cage married again,
this time to singer and actress Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of Elvis Presley. Their
marriage was highly publicized and made waves in the media. However, their union was short-lived,
and after only 108 days, Cage filed for divorce. After two high-profile divorces, Cage took a break
from relationships and focused on his career. But in 2004, he found love once more with Alice Kim,
a 19-year-old South Korean waitress. Despite their 21-year age difference, the couple married
and welcomed a son, Kal-El. Unfortunately, in 2016, they separated after 12 years of
marriage. In 2019, Cage married for the fourth time to makeup artist Erika Koike in Las Vegas.
However, their marriage lasted only four days before Cage filed for an annulment, making it one
of the shortest marriages in Hollywood history. Despite this scandal, Cage soon found love again
when he met Riko Shibata. The two crossed paths in Shiga, Japan, through mutual friends while he was
filming Prisoners of the Ghostland in late 2019, and there was an immediate connection between
them. Riko Shibata was born in 1995 in Kyoto, Japan. Not much is known about her early life,
but during an appearance on a Japanese talk show, she shared that she grew up
in a child welfare facility after her mother disappeared when she was 3. And her father
was unable to raise her on his own. In hopes that fame might help her mother recognize her,
she pursued a career in acting under her real name, Riko Shibata. It was on the set of Prisoners
of the Ghostland that her life changed forever. Riko and Cage fell in love almost instantly,
and their romance blossomed quickly. Cage later revealed that they spent a lot of time together
in Japan, exploring its beauty and learning about each other’s lives. At the time, Cage was 56,
and Shibata was 25. Some might consider the age gap significant, but for them, it didn’t
matter. They bonded over shared interests, unique personalities, and a mutual love for animals.
Unfortunately, not long after they met, Shibata had to return to Kyoto, Japan, while Cage went
back to Nevada, USA. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and travel restrictions, they were forced to spend
six months apart, relying on FaceTime to stay connected. Reflecting on that time, Cage said,
"We were really happy together and excited to spend more time together. But with the pandemic,
we were apart for a long time, which was tough on both of us." Despite the distance,
their bond only grew stronger, proving their love was more than just a fleeting romance.
In August 2020, during a FaceTime call, Cage decided he didn’t want to wait any longer. He
proposed to Shibata right then and there, saying, "I want to marry you." It was both romantic and
unexpected. To make the proposal even more unique, he sent her a custom black diamond engagement
ring all the way to Japan via FedEx. Without hesitation, Riko said yes, marking the beginning
of their new chapter together. The couple tied the knot on February 16, 2021, in an intimate ceremony
at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas. The wedding was described as "very small and intimate," attended
by only a few close friends and family members. The ceremony beautifully blended their cultures,
with Riko wearing a handmade Japanese bridal kimono and Nicolas dressed in a classic tuxedo.
Cage expressed his happiness after the wedding, stating, "It's true, and we
are very happy." This marked his fifth marriage, but he confidently added, "I know five is a lot,
but I think I got it right this time." Following their wedding, the couple made their red carpet
debut in July 2021 at the Los Angeles premiere of Pig, proudly showcasing their love to the world.
From that moment on, they became inseparable, frequently attending events together—always
hand in hand and looking deeply in love. Their joy grew even more in September 2022 when they
welcomed their daughter, August Francesca, making Cage a father again at 58. This was especially
significant for him, as he had always dreamed of having a daughter. Since becoming parents,
Nicolas and Riko have maintained a relatively private life. However, in interviews, Cage often
describes his daughter as his greatest joy and expresses immense gratitude for having Riko by
his side. He praises her as an incredibly kind and intelligent woman who understands him in a way no
one else has. Unlike many celebrity spouses, Riko has no interest in chasing fame. She doesn’t act,
sing, or promote brands. She remains entirely off social media, choosing to keep her life—and
her family—away from the public eye. Today, Nicolas Cage is 61 years old
and still active in Hollywood, but he seems more settled than ever. Given the 31-year age gap and
Cage’s history of four previous divorces, many doubted the longevity of his relationship with
Riko. However, to this day, the couple appears happier than ever. They’ve been spotted enjoying
quiet family outings and traveling together, demonstrating that they’ve built a loving and
stable home. Their daughter is now 2 years old, but they do their best to protect her
from the spotlight. It’s clear that Cage has found a partner who not only complements him
but also provides the stability and peace that had eluded him in his past relationships. Do you think
Nicolas will continue to build a lasting future with Riko, or will their relationship follow the
same turbulent path as his past marriages? Share your thoughts in the comments. And that's it! If
