How's it going everybody? I'm Nikki Delventhal and this is my dog Camper Delventhal.
We live in a 2006 Toyota Prius and we're here to take you along on the wild ride.
So fasten up your seat belts and let's have some fun. Don't forget if you like what you see,
like, subscribe, comment, share with your friends, and turn on notifications.
Camper and I would be so thankful.
Last week's episode, Camper and I take you all around my hometown.
And not only do you become an honorary Delventhal,
we have a blast showing you all my favorite things on the Connecticut coastline.
And even give you a little glimpse into my life growing up in New England.
Not only that, but we end up making some pretty big decisions between
Essentially with today's market, we concluded
At least for a few more months.
So we leave off slowly moving back into the Prius after its long time at the shop.
This is harder with a bad knee.
In the hole!
I want you guys to see what it looks like.
Oh, good job, Nicole. Good job.
You've seen me in a hybrid Sienna, you've seen me in this Prius,
you've seen me in a four-wheel pop-up truck camper, and you've seen me in a 4x4 sprinter.
Out of those options, what's your favorite?
I like them all. I'm having a very hard time deciding
what I should search for for my next vehicle since we got a little bit of time.
Because the market sucks.
We're not just loading up my Prius,
we're loading up one other because we have a nice little surprise for you in the morning.
Good morning, Cam.
Ready for an adventure?
Okay, let's go.
Oh my god, there's so many spoons.
I literally own two spoons, both of which are lost to the Prius abyss.
Maybe we'll take this one.
I am not left-handed.
Top of the morning to ya.
You want some?
Okay, no coffee for camper.
I think we're ready to go.
One sec.
You're ready for an adventure, aren't you, camper?
All right, today's adventure is gonna be super fun times two,
because we have not one, but two Priuses.
Prii.
I'm going with Prii.
Toyota said my car might not be fixed, so we are taking two just in case we have an issue there.
But not only that, the famous Dan Belmont doll is coming along.
You ready for a big adventure?
Yeah, I got something to tell you.
What?
We're gonna hit the road and it's a gorgeous day for a dad and daughter adventure.
I wonder where I get it.
No idea.
Let's go, baby.
Oh yeah, I like this.
What's up, Poison Ivy over there?
Let's have a look.
Dad, how do you identify Poison Ivy?
Tree leaves, very resin-y.
Can be bright green, could be dark green, all shades of green.
Growing on a vine, sometimes up the tree, all the way to the top, sometimes along the ground.
But you can tell when you see like a little film of oil on it.
That oil can last for a year and still give you a rash.
Yeah, Poison Ivy, native plant, but a pain in the neck for us.
So yeah, we're gonna take camper away from that little patch there.
All right, this is how we do it.
What are you in the mood for?
You want breakfast?
Yeah, we're just cooking.
You got the stick, huh?
So there are a ton of bears in the area.
So we don't want to just pour the food or the grease or the oil on the ground.
We want to make sure that we dispose of it correctly.
So we're going to pour that in this glass bottle.
Don't want to attract bears.
No, we don't.
I'm a freaking pro.
We're going to let that cool down.
Oh baby, that looks good.
How do you clean your dishes?
Actually, though, I clean my dishes with half white vinegar, half water,
spray it on, and then every one or two weeks I will do a thorough clean.
Sometimes I'll sneak it into a truck stop.
My friend's house.
Wherever I find a sink.
All clean from camper and vinegar.
Shall I have phase one Tony from camper?
Take three reclining.
You want to go for a hike?
You want to go see a waterfall?
All right, let's get our hiking shoes on.
Oh, that means I parked on a slant.
Don't park on slants.
Today, I'm going to attempt my first mile and a half walk since my procedure.
So this will be a good telltale of how I'm doing.
All right, let's go, baby.
First stop, Fish Bash Falls.
Fish Bash, I was taking a bath all about a Saturday night.
We are about to take a little ice cold bath.
Onward march to the waterfalls.
It's too tempting not to stop every three seconds.
A really fun part about this trail is it is on the New York-Massachusetts border.
You want to be in New York or Massachusetts?
All right, you're the asshole.
I'm the New Yorker.
Where did I park my car?
Who cares?
I'm sure he's making kugel tonight.
Where's my car?
I'm wicked pissed.
Get the f*** out of here.
Forget about it.
Freezing!
Knees-over-toes training.
Backwards uphill.
Go, Nikki D.
Strong knees.
All right, up.
That was super fun.
But with fun, you got to balance it out with a little bit of work.
So we're going to find some wi-fi real quick.
All right.
Hi, mister.
All right, come on out.
Let's go to work for a very short period of time.
That's right.
You have the key to the internet.
Speaking of wi-fi, I have a big tip for really essentially anyone,
but especially my travelers, my coffee shop workers, nomads, right?
We're always on public wi-fi.
And I really think it's important to be protected.
In order to protect myself, I use a VPN service.
That's a virtual private network.
So essentially what's happening is I'm on a public wi-fi.
If I use any of my banking, if I put in any passwords,
someone can just come along and take all of my information
if I'm not on a virtual private network.
For a little over a year and a half now, I've been using NordVPN.
I personally like this one for a number of reasons.
Number one, you can connect in just one click or have it auto connect.
Number two, they are the fastest VPN out there.
Number three, they have over 5,400 servers in 60 different countries.
Also, just a little tip, you can switch the country you're in
and use any streaming service, things like that, in another country.
Maybe I'm in Belgium today, so I'm going to use Belgian's Netflix.
I don't know if they have that, but you get the point.
And lastly, they're more than just a VPN.
They're also a cybersecurity tool as they offer threat protection.
Any VPN service is great, but if you are interested in NordVPN like I am,
I do have a deal for you guys.
Go to the link in my description or go to nordvpn.com slash Nikki
and use code Nikki at checkout.
Protect yourself.
Now it's time for more fun.
Let's go make a campfire.
And burritos.
Home sweet home.
We're making our fire in the daylight
because there is so much poison ivy around here.
You don't want to mess with that.
So sometimes when you're out in the wilderness and,
oh no, I got poison ivy on me.
If you can find some jewel weed, there's hope.
This is jewel weed.
It has nice little orange flowers and it always grows near the poison ivy.
See how the leaves are shaped like jewels?
You take some jewel weed and you rub it on your skin like this.
You know what?
That's wild.
You're good.
Come on.
I'm just...
Rub it on your legs.
Unlike you, I'm staying away from the poison ivy
and that is why we are making a fire during the daylight and not nighttime.
Nothing like a shower when you're living in a Prius.
Now that is coming home to a party.
That is nice.
Superior abs.
That went flying in my eyeball.
Kimberly, put that stick in the fire.
It is campfire burrito time.
All right, we're setting dad up.
If you've never car camped before, you need window covers.
It's not even an option.
It's like necessary.
We've seen chopsticks that big.
Oh.
Chopsticks were never really my thing.
Oh, Nanny.
Are you tired?
I think somebody's tired.
Sweetie.
Good boy.
Thanks for walking me to my door, sweetie.
Good night.
Love you.
There's my pillow.
Good night, everybody.
Good morning, camper.
Oh.
Go get it.
Okay, good boy.
We're on a slant.
You want some coffee?
All right, breakfast time.
We're going to try that place that we went yesterday to work a little bit.
Good.
Keep going.
Oh, thank you.
Tamages.
Oh, yeah.
Look at that bad boy.
Cheers.
All right, we are going to walk off our breakfast.
This state park is super cool because not only is it beautiful, but there's a ton of history.
So first, we're checking out Copaic Ironworks,
where they used to produce iron in these massive furnaces.
2,300 degrees Fahrenheit.
Ooh.
That is wild.
So we're going to walk around here and check out the museum and learn all about the history.
And then we are going to take ourselves over to the pond,
where they actually did the mining of the iron ore.
So cool.
The thing is almost 40 feet deep, they say.
Oh, yeah, there we go.
Thanks for watching.
