Welcome home, my kids!
Hi, Grandma!
So, what did you shop for, Tofu?
Grandma, we got lots of lights for Diwali
and me and Tofu have decided to decorate the house on our own.
That's a great idea, kids!
So, do you guys know why Diwali is celebrated?
Hmm, not exactly.
We've got so many questions
and we know you've got all the answers.
Don't worry, we will tell you everything.
So, what is Diwali all about?
Is it just the lights and crackers?
Diwali is a wonderful festival
celebrated to mark the victory of light over darkness
and good over evil.
But why is it called the festival of lights?
Diwali is also known as the festival of lights
because people light up their homes with oil lamps or diyas
to celebrate the return of Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshman
after their victory over the demon king Ravan.
But why did Lord Rama and his family have to fight a demon king?
Long ago, Ravan had kidnapped Lord Rama's wife, Sita.
Lord Rama and his brother Lakshman fought a brave battle to rescue her.
And they won?
Yes, they did.
Their victory symbolises the triumph of good over evil
and importance of righteousness.
What do people do to celebrate Diwali?
And why do we make those beautiful designs on the floor called rangoli?
People clean and decorate their homes to welcome Goddess Lakshmi
the Goddess of wealth and prosperity.
Rangoli designs are made to bring good luck and positivity.
So, is Diwali all about lighting lamps and decorations?
It's also a time for families to come together,
share delicious sweets and exchange gifts with love.
Gifts! I love getting gifts!
Why do we light so many diyas and lanterns?
Lighting diyas symbolises the victory of light and knowledge
over darkness and ignorance.
It's a way of spreading positivity and hope.
What's the most exciting part about Diwali?
And what do we do on Diwali night?
On Diwali night, people light up their homes with colourful lights and fireworks
creating a spectacular show in the sky.
Wow! That sounds magical!
Yay! Now we know all about Diwali, the festival of lights.
It's a festival filled with stories, lights, love and celebration.
And it's a time for families to come closer and make beautiful memories together.
That's correct, my lovely babies.
So, are we ready for Diwali tomorrow?
Yes!
And who's helping me in the kitchen
if Tia and Tofu have decided to decorate the house, huh?
Oh dear! I can help.
And I am there too.
Ha ha! Perfect!
Thank you, Mom, Dad and Grandma.
We finally know now that Diwali is not just about lights and crackers
but much much more.
Happy Diwali, everyone!
