all right in a previous video we did a
um the sum if this is the sum of the
dinner items and then we have the sum of
the France items well what if you want
to see ones that were dinner and France
at the same time so in other words we're
going to have a multiple condition uh in
the 2007 version they just came out with
a new function it's called sum ifs so
with the sum if s you can do multiple
conditions so we're going to type in
equals Su if s
open
parenthesis and then we're going to put
in um the sum
range is going to be the um is going to
be the number that we want to add up so
in this case we'll go from E2 down
to
E210 I'm going to type in a
comma uh so the first criteria range is
going to be
column
B it'll be the
country and then another comma and then
I want that to be
France
okay now because we're doing a
sumith we can put as many uh conditions
as we want to so I'll type in another
comma Now notice how it's looking for
the second criteria range the second
criteria range is going to be column f
right and that range can be as big as
you wanted it to be of
course and then we'll type in another
comma and here um the criteria range
that we're looking for would be um
dinner and now you can keep on going
with as many different uh pieces of
criteria that you needed to in this case
I'm just going to have two but a after
the second one you would put another
comma with another range and another
criteria and you can keep on doing that
with as many as you wanted to so in this
case it says equals sum ifs open
parentheses E2 col E210 that's the the
range I want to sum up when the when the
conditions are met another comma uh B2
through B210 is the first range I want
to look at comma notice how France is in
quotes that's the first criteria for the
first range then we have another another
comma and another criteria F2 through
f210 in the range is what we're looking
for is dinner though all right so with
the sum ifs you can have as much
criteria as you wanted to and it already
allows you to do a multiple conditional
sum all right so I bet if we went
through all the items that were France
and dinner at the same time we would be
able to um get that total really
powerful function this is a conditional
sum where we can do more than one
condition and it's called Su IFS
