They call me lessee, if you need somebody, I will never let you down.
I will find the key, you can trust in me, I'm a friend to everyone.
And I go, go under the rainbow, I will be your call, your call.
Never take it slow, I will help you all, you all.
Harvey!
Har-
Wait!
Harvey, wake up!
Welcome to the fruit festival, have a nice day.
Thank you.
What do you want to do, the apple sack race?
Or try to get a perfect score at the melon bowling lane?
I was thinking of aiming a little higher.
The blueberry pie challenge?
But that's the biggest event of the entire festival.
What makes you think you have a shot at that?
Well, Harvey, let's just say it's the Parker family tradition.
No, stay in there!
I'm trying to land!
Sorry, sorry, this is the first time I've blown it!
What do you mean you've never blown one of these before?
Nick?
And Samantha?
Be careful what you're doing, it's cost a fortune!
Nick, watch out!
Now let me out of this thing!
What a landing!
Well done, Lassie, you're amazing!
When my uncle finds out what happened,
it's going to be really bad for you, Nick Connelly.
So let me get this straight,
your dad won the blueberry pie challenge?
Yep, and my mother won the year after.
That's right, Harvey.
My mom won it before him.
And her mother before her.
What's the secret?
Aha!
Go on.
This is the family recipe.
It's the one we've all used.
Flour, sugar, eggs, blueberries?
But this just sounds like a standard blueberry pie recipe.
It is.
The secret isn't the recipe,
it's how you interpret the recipe.
Everyone who's won did so by taking the basic recipe
and adding their own special twist.
But how do you know what to add?
Or when? Or how much?
Follow your instincts.
Cooking isn't a science, Harvey, it's an art.
You have to know when to follow the recipe
and when to break away from it and do your own thing.
It's the only way to make something truly special,
truly your own.
I'll try to make you proud, Mom.
Don't be silly, Zoe.
We're already proud of you.
Did you hear that?
Zoe's going to enter the blueberry pie bake-off.
It's the biggest event of the whole festival.
People come from all over the state to enter.
Really? That's a lot of pies.
And that's just the blueberry pie competition.
There's competitions for little pies, medium pies, big pies,
and even bigger pies.
A panel of judges has to taste the pies and...
No, no, no.
A group of humans can't be trusted to make decisions
of that magnitude when it comes to pies.
I mean, just look at them.
And look at us.
Who has a better sense of smell? We do.
Who has more sensitive taste buds? Us.
Who won't be influenced by unnecessary distractions
like table manners, using utensils, or chewing your food?
I'm telling you, there's nobody more qualified
for judging pies than us.
We have to save them from themselves.
And the only way to do that is to try
each and every one of those pies ourselves.
Careful, Nick. That stuff is expensive.
And hurry it up.
I want it all installed in time for the bake-off.
Don't hurry this, Santa.
I know exactly what I'm doing.
Hey, Zoe. Saw your name on the sign-up sheet.
You're competing in the blueberry pie challenge?
Competing? That's so cute.
No, I'm not competing. I'm winning.
There's a big, big difference.
You'll see.
Don't be so sure, Samantha.
Zoe's family has an entire history
of winning blue ribbons in this event.
Traditions are meant to be broken.
And while your dirty old family recipe there
is very impressive,
I have a secret blueberry pie formula
that was given to me exclusively
by the head pastry chef
at La Maison in Jackson City.
See you later, Samantha.
Forget her, Zoe.
Samantha is all hot air.
I don't know. She has some fancy recipe
from some fancy restaurant in the city.
It even sounded French.
Who cares? It's not about the recipe.
Remember what your mom told you.
Remember the secret to making something special.
That's the problem.
The recipe is only going to be special
if the chef is special.
My mom and dad were. My grandma was.
But what if I'm not?
Trust yourself, Zoe.
I know I do.
Thanks, guys.
I just wish there was something we could do
to get some kind of edge on Samantha.
Something she wouldn't have.
Maybe there is.
Your mom said cooking wasn't an exact science, right?
But that doesn't mean we can't use science to help us.
Help us? Help us do what?
Find the best ingredients!
Come on!
It's all very simple, really.
I've charted the rainfall patterns
of the last five years,
compared them to recent soil sample reports,
then cross-referenced those with the ideal temperature
for growing blueberries.
Wild blueberries? On that ridge?
Not just any wild blueberries.
The best, ripest, sweetest wild blueberries
in this whole valley!
Harvey, you're a genius! What are we waiting for? Let's go!
I know this was my idea,
but that spot is pretty far.
And it's in a really remote area of the park.
Far? Far enough to get back and cook my pie in time?
Mmm, yeah.
So far is good! Remote is even better.
It means no one else will go there.
We'll be the only ones with the best blueberries!
So, what are they doing now?
Looks like they're heading up the mountain.
But where are they going? And more importantly, why?
And how come I bother
asking you questions like this
when I know you probably can't even figure out
how to tie your own shoelaces?
Well, Velcro's much easier.
Ugh.
Wait, hold on.
That's straight into the wilderness.
What are we doing?
We're following them.
They obviously know something we don't.
Now stop talking and move it!
You can't order me around like that, you know.
I don't work for you.
That's right, Nick. You work for my uncle at the hotel.
My uncle who specifically told you
to stay with me today and keep me happy.
So get the microlight right now!
You're never happy.
It looks like they're following
the path to that bridge.
Good. That slows them down.
Let's move ahead and pass them.
Why would Zoe be heading over there?
What's on the other side?
I don't know. It's hard to see anything
with all those wild blueberry bushes growing over there.
Blueberries! Of course!
Don't you get it?
No, of course you don't.
They're here for blueberries!
We need to buy some time.
Make sure they can't follow us.
But how could we do that?
Let's see.
Well, maybe we could...
There!
That should do the trick.
You... you cut the rope bridge?
Yep. Thought of that all by myself.
If that doesn't stop them
from following us, nothing will.
Ha ha ha!
Look! Her light!
Which means...
She must have followed us.
She's probably picking blueberries right now.
I'm sorry, Zoe.
Don't be sorry.
Just help me find another place to cross.
Lasty's found something!
Good job, Lasty!
We can cross here!
Can I help you, Harvey?
Yeah, yeah. Give me a second.
Do it fast. Don't look down, and you'll be fine.
Fast? Sure.
Look behind you!
What? Why not?
So why wasn't I supposed to look behind me?
There's nothing there!
I know, but it worked, didn't it?
Ha ha! Very funny.
Huh?
These aren't pies!
These aren't pies either!
Right. Pies aren't ready yet.
So what do we do?
Ooh! Berries!
I wouldn't say no to berries.
I thought we were supposed to help them judge pies.
Great idea! Let's make our own pie!
All the pie stuff is here!
How hard can it be?
This contestant withdrew,
so the stand is unoccupied.
Let's do this!
Oh, yeah.
This is the good stuff right here.
These blueberries are going to make
an amazing pie!
Instead of stating the obvious,
get me back to town.
These blueberries aren't going to help if we miss the competition.
Uh, sure. No problem.
Let's see.
This way!
We made it!
No sign of Samantha.
She must have already left.
Uh-oh. Maybe we should get out of here.
But we haven't picked anything yet.
Right. Let's do it fast.
What is it, girl? What's wrong?
Samantha and Nick!
They're heading for danger!
We have to warn them!
Of course we do.
Ouch! You're making me walk through brambles!
I'm going to tell my uncle!
Ouch! Ouch!
Blackberries over here!
You couldn't use them.
Blackberries couldn't use them.
Ah!
A nice, nice
little bee there.
Ah! I'm coming!
No! Go away! They're my blueberries!
Oh, don't worry.
This little fella is no more dangerous
than a teddy bear.
Come here, little fella.
Let's scratch that little tummy of yours.
Come show Uncle Nick how cute you are.
Let me go!
No! Don't run!
Never run if you're a bear
if you don't want to be attacked.
I'm not running, but it looks like
it's going to attack us anyway.
This way!
We don't need your help.
Nick will take care of us just fine.
Can't you Nick?
Hurry! Lassie can't hold the bear off for long.
That bear is big!
Enormous!
We're almost there! Come on!
Oh, Zoe!
Ouch! Stop following me!
I need to run.
Ouch! Leave my blueberries alone.
You're heavier than you look.
Ouch!
Hey, teddy bear.
Blueberries,
come together.
Zoe, please help!
Easy now.
Look, we're going to leave your cub alone.
Step back slowly.
If I can be worth this!
Okay.
Go! I'll follow you.
Lassie!
Come on, Zoe!
Come on, everyone!
Push! Push!
Push! Push, Nick!
Push!
Well done, Lassie!
It's really not fair.
We mere two-legged humans
just can't compete.
Zoe,
Harvey, and Lassie,
thank you.
We would never have made it
without you.
And neither would have all these beautiful,
ripe, perfect blueberries.
The blueberries!
Zoe threw all of hers away!
And I did it to save you!
I know. And I'll think of your courage and generosity
every time I look at my
blue ribbon.
Bye, guys.
You've got to be kidding!
Friends!
The owl has just win!
Okay. The recipe is easy.
First, make the bottom part.
Then, make the top part.
Ready? One,
two...
Are you sure
that's the way to do it?
Positive! I've seen Sarah
do it a bunch of times.
Where's Zoe?
I'm going to tell Mrs. Lee
I'm pulling out.
Why, Zoe?
Samantha's going to win.
She's using an award-winning recipe
and she's got the best blueberries.
She's got everything.
What do I have?
You have you.
That's all that matters.
That's all you need.
No, it was inventive.
No, really, it was a taste sensation.
The jury
has come to its decision.
The blue ribbon for Grand
Mountain's finest blueberry
pie this year goes to...
The yellow
pie!
It's me!
My pie should have won!
I followed the recipe perfectly,
step by step. I had the best blueberries.
I had the best everything.
Well done, Zoe.
Your blueberry and Szechuan pepper
combination was truly inspired.
You have reinvented
the famous Parker pie.
What did your mother tell you?
All you needed was you.
Not quite, Mom. I needed Lassie, too.
So, who do you think
is the winner here?
Friends, I think we can unanimously
conclude that the winner is...
us.
