It takes all of the Rocket 3R's phenomenal performance, all of its class-leading handling and outstanding technology and adds a sophisticated new layer of blacked-out style for an even more striking and dominant presence. There are just 1,000 of these beautiful motorcycles worldwide and for even more exclusivity each comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity. The Rocket 3R really is the ultimate high-performance muscle roadster so what gives this very special black edition Rocket 3 its meaner moodier attitude? First up it's this sleek and aggressive dual matte and gloss black paint scheme which is finished with a Black Triumph badge and black branding on the tank. You have this beautifully crafted carbon fibre front mudguard which is complemented by black anodised fork lowers. The black anodised theme continues across a host of carefully selected components including the yokes, risers and handlebar clamp, the rider footrests, brake and gear pedals and the pillion footrests and hangers, plus these premium black anodised bar end mirrors. The headlamp bezels are painted black as are the fly screen finishes, seat finishes and rear bodywork finishes. The Rocket's 2,500cc triple is not only the largest production motorcycle engine in the world at 221 newton meters, it has the world's highest torque delivery too. Maximum torque arrives at 4,000 rpm and is held all the way through the mid-range giving unparalleled acceleration and all day any gear effortless riding. Peak power is a breathtaking 167 ps at 6,000 rpm and again the Rocket engine is tuned to deliver power all the way from a low 3,500 rpm to the red line at 7,000 rpm. The Rocket 3R has recently demonstrated its incredible acceleration by setting a staggering new triumph production motorcycle record of 0-60mph in 2.73 seconds. The black theme continues on the engine of this limited edition with a black painted finish on the beautifully hydroformed three header exhaust run which delivers the most magnificent rich triple engine roar. The exhaust heat shields and end caps are also painted black while the intake cover has a crinkled black powder coat finish. The Rocket 3R also features a high performance six-speed heli-cool cut gearbox and torque assist hydraulic clutch. On the black edition the span adjustable clutch lever is black anodized as is the brake lever in keeping with the overall color theme. Contributing to the Rocket 3's clean uncluttered styling is this beautifully engineered aluminium single-sided swing arm with offset monoshock suspension. Again on this special edition both the swing arm cover and RSU rocket are finished in black for a completely blacked out rear end. The wheels are lightweight multi-spoke cast aluminium and come fitted with Avon Cobra chrome tires. These have been developed especially for the Rocket 3 with an imposing 240mm rear tire and deliver exceptional grip and high mileage durability. For the black edition the rear wheel finisher and bevel box have of course been blacked out too. Adding further to the clean look and muscular feel you have these internally wired roadster style handlebars which hide away all of the usual cables and wires. With regard to comfort and seating the Rocket 3 comes with sculpted rider and pillion saddles with unique black painted cast aluminium finishes under the seat. Seat height is a low 773mm. Now one of the lovely features of the Rocket is its adaptability. Not only can you change the setup from twin seat to single with an accessory infill pad but it also has adjustable mid foot controls with two vertical position settings to choose from. You can also hide the special editions black pillion foot pegs thanks to this unique and elegant fold away design. When it comes to handling the Rocket 3 is a revelation not only in terms of comfort and touring ease but also a genuinely dynamic roadster ride much more akin to a speed triple. It has a lightweight aluminium frame and a very high specification of equipment. On the rear there's a fully adjustable Showa monoshock RSU with a piggyback reservoir while up front the upside down Showa cartridge forks are adjustable for compression and rebound damping. The brakes are Brembo's top specification road going radial monoblock calipers Brembo Stylemas with twin floating discs. These cutting edge calipers are a lightweight and compact design with optimised airflow for efficient cooling and further highlighting the incredible specification on this bike at the rear is a four piston monoblock caliper and 300 millimetre disc a setup more commonly found at the front end of a motorcycle. The Rocket 3 also comes with Triumph's optimised cornering ABS and traction control as standard. These are controlled by a inertial measurement unit which measures the roll, pitch, yaw and acceleration rates of the bike in order to calculate the lean angle and optimise braking and traction control accordingly. The instruments are Triumph's latest generation full colour TFTs which are angle adjustable and have two information layout themes that can be personalised. The TFT system has myTriumph connectivity system software already installed and enabled, set up and ready to be used with an accessory fit Bluetooth module. This gives you GoPro interaction, turn-by-turn navigation and phone and music operation via the switch cubes all displayed on the TFT screen. There are four riding modes to choose from, rain, road, sport and rider configurable all of which can be easily changed while on the move via the illuminated switch cubes. The riding modes adjust the throttle response and traction control settings to suit rider preference and riding conditions. For low energy consumption, increased durability and greater visibility the Rocket 3R has all LED lighting including this twin LED headlight, this beautifully shaped tail light, the indicators and the number plate light. Depending on the market the headlights also incorporate these signature shaped LED daytime running lights, increasing rider visibility to other road users. As standard the Rocket comes equipped with hill hold control, cruise control, keyless ignition and keyless steering lock and a USB charging socket. As with all Triumphs there are a wide range of genuine accessories available so you can tailor your bike to suit your preferences. These include Triumph shift assist for clutchless up and down gear changes, heated grips and a tyre pressure monitoring system for enhanced safety and control. There's also a range of luggage with an innovative Triumph patented cast aluminium pannier mounting system, interchangeable seats and handlebars and the track plus and protect plus tracking and alarm systems.
