How's it going everybody? I'm Nikki Delventhal and this is my dog Camper Delventhal.
We live in a 2006 Toyota Prius and we're here to take you along on the wild ride.
So fasten up your seat belts and let's have some fun.
Don't forget if you like what you see, like, subscribe, comment, share with your friends,
and turn on notifications. Camper and I would be so thankful. On last week's episode,
Hotel Prius makes its way east. Our first stop was at one of our favorite shoreside camp spots.
Here we relaxed on the beach, went for walks, took naps, and enjoyed the sunshine.
From here we continued to Flagstaff to our favorite truck stop slash hotel combo with public
wi-fi. Here we did some physical therapy, took a shower at our favorite truck stop,
oh the holy grail of showers, and attempted to upload a video. Well the upload said it's
gonna take 13 hours so I guess we know where we're staying tonight. Not the hotel, the truck stop next
So we left off going to bed outside of our favorite truck stop.
Good morning camper. Do you think our upload is done? Let's check. Oh nice, we're at 100 percent.
Now we can get ready for the day. All right, what do you want to do today? On our conquest east.
Ready? One thing at a time. I'm gonna pick out our clothes for the day and then we're gonna go outside.
You like my shorts? Oh god, that was dumb. I hope that's on camera.
And now we're ready for a coffee. Try this one. No, you don't like that one. Camper got his puppy
Breakfast. And we headed off for our next big adventure. Okay, we are stopping at Petrified
Forest National Park. Fun fact, this is the only national park that closes its doors at night.
So it opens at eight, closes at five, and they shut the gates. And this is really to prevent
theft of the petrified wood that we're going to learn about in a minute. This is absolutely
amazing and one of the largest collections of petrified wood in the entire world.
All right, we've officially entered the park. If you think you're going to go to more than one
park this year, $80. You can get an annual pass that will let you into any national park, even
national forests. Definitely worth the money. Also, we love Petrified Forest National Park because
dogs are allowed on all the trails here. All right, first stop, visitor center.
You can't see this one. I'm so hungry, but I want to get exploring, so we're going to make it fast.
Man down, man down. All right, what are we gonna have? Keeper. Sounds good. I think I
might just drink it. That works for now. It's time to explore. You ready? Our first short trail of
the day takes us around the giant logs from the visitor center. Look at these things. They are
everywhere. Beautiful. Whoa, look at this big boy. The way these logs are scattered around the park,
you would assume someone came in with a chainsaw and just cut them, but in actuality, these logs
are now quartz. And quartz is extremely brittle, so over time they've created fractures and have
turned into these shapes. It's quite amazing. Across the way from the visitor center, you have
the long logs trail, and we're gonna go check out some ruins. It's a half mile walk there,
making it one mile round trip. This is pretty fascinating. So the petrified wood
in this area has been said to be 218 million years old. Look how cool this is camper.
This place is so cool, and this is just the start. It only gets cooler from here. Just wait till you
see it. Camper, you want to keep going? Yeah. The drive through the park is so diverse
and changes at every turn. Because I am rehabbing from a pretty serious knee injury,
I am going to be skipping a couple of the trails like Crystal Forest, but if you can,
I recommend doing all the trails in the park. They're all short, doable, and beautiful.
Some of those other stops being Jasper Forest, a gate bridge, newspaper rock.
We got a lot of people reading the newspaper today. And a ton more. And now for the main event.
Camper, are you a happy boy? And we are gonna go hike.
Blue Mesa is my favorite hike in the park, and it's only a mile long.
Hello friends!
Are you the greeting crew? Are you going to say hi to everybody who walks by?
A lot of petrified wood is so beautiful. Okay, come on mister. All right, camp. Home sweet home.
On the way out of the park, Camper saw a car and asked if anybody was living in it.
It ends up Camper really likes cars. You want to get in there? On that note, it was time to eat.
All right my friends, it is time for lunch with a view.
I got this box from Whole Foods yesterday, so we're not doing the bag sale today.
I'm not like a super fan. This was just on sale, so I bought it. But also, I used to cheer for them.
Save this for later. Okay, I'm gonna take all my ingredients. I'm gonna put it into
this salad. Salads are my favorite food, and I'm so good at making them. So if you ever invite me
to your house, I will totally make one. Everyone loves my salads. Okay, I'm ready to be invited
to everyone's party. At first I was afraid. I was petrified. Kept thinking I could never live
without you by my side. Petrified National Forest. All right, we're leaving the park officially.
First stop was to find a place to sleep for the night. You have arrived. You know where we're
going. It's our favorite time of day. Shower time. All right, there's about a one to two hour wait
time for the showers, and that's okay. That's normal. So I have an idea. Hey camper, you want to have a
movie night? Yeah. So in the meantime, we are going to go ahead and set up our X Jimmy portable
projector. So I've actually been using this projector screen for a little while now, and I
absolutely love it. Not only for its power and capabilities, but because it's so easy to move
around in store and something that is absolutely necessary for us. It has a two hour play time
built-in battery, so it won't need to be plugged in when we want to use it. It's really great for
small nights like we're gonna have, but it's also been really great when we're visiting friends
or when we're getting big groups together on camping trips. Pretty much it can go anywhere,
and we love that. Oh, it also has amazing audio with Harman Kardon speakers. It's one of, if not
the best on the market. We just heard our name over the intercom. It's our turn to shower.
All right, just went shopping. I got an extra pillow, snacks, and water.
It's a wild night at the truck stop, friends. Wait till you see what I got.
Camper, come. So what kind of person are you? Do you move all the ice cream aside and just
take the cookie dough and then put it back in the freezer for your friends?
We got you all new freeze-dried yummies. All right, guys, it's supposed to be 13 degrees tonight,
and I don't feel like freezing my ass off, so we are running the car tonight,
which in a Prius you can do because a Prius is basically a generator on wheels. There's a massive
battery, so maybe every like seven to ten minutes the engine kicks on for 30 seconds,
recharges the battery, and you're good to go. So I'm only going to go through probably a gallon
of gas tonight, and I think that's worth it when it is 13 degrees Fahrenheit.
So I'm just gonna set up the car, and we are going to go to bed. Thanks for watching. Don't forget
