Sugar-free slushies are not something you really find.
And even when you go places like, say, Sonic Drive-In, where they say sugar-free,
the sugar-free is actually only the syrup that they're using to flavor it.
The slushie base itself is still full of sugar.
Now, that's a really big bummer because Ash and I love slushies.
We used to get them all the time during the summer,
which is probably one of the reasons that I blew up to about 400 pounds.
But I have the solution for you guys because slushies are a lot of fun,
and they're a really great way to get your electrolytes.
But you have to know the science of how to make a slushie at home.
Let me thank today's sponsor, Inoviva, that makes this incredible home slushie machine.
I'm going to show you guys how to use this machine.
I'm going to have a discount code.
I'm going to have a link down below for you so you can pick one up.
And I'm going to explain the science of how you can make this work at home
so you can get your electrolytes or milkshakes or any of these other kinds of flavored slushies
or different frozen beverages made perfectly and still sugar-free.
So you don't have to rely on all of the restaurants and the various fast food places
that claim something might be sugar-free when, in reality, it's probably not.
Let's talk about sugar-free, keto-approved slushies and milkshakes on Chris Cook in Nashville
with Inoviva.
So I'm going to do a couple of different things for you guys in this video
because this Inoviva S1 slushie machine has all kinds of settings.
We don't drink alcohol, but if you are one of those people who does that,
this has a cocktail, frozen cocktail, wine-type setting.
You can do milkshakes in this. You can do slushies. You can do frozen fruit juices.
Another thing we don't drink, but that's up to you.
But I'm going to show you how we can use this to do a bunch of keto-approved slushie-type beverages.
One, using keto chow as our flavoring base to do a keto chow milkshake.
Let me tell you, this is a completely different way that is a lot of fun to have a keto chow milkshake.
We're also going to use salty electrolytes.
If you like salty electrolytes as much as we do, it's going to be a really great way
to start getting more electrolytes in your diet or to make something fun for the kids
to have in their diet to get their electrolytes.
So let me go ahead and show you how the slushie machine works,
and then I'm going to pull out some stuff, and we're going to show you the science
of how you can make slushies at home and the one secret ingredient that makes this actually work.
So this is the beautiful S1 slushie machine from Inoviva.
It is a fantastic machine, and I tested it out to make sure that I knew this was going to work
before we made this video. Let me show you guys what we got going on.
So there's a really nice touchscreen display right here, which makes it extremely easy
to turn on and turn off your machine so you can make all of the different kinds of beverages
that this will allow you to do.
There's a removable and cleanable drip tray that just snaps into the front
so you don't make a mess all over your kitchen.
The front here is a dispenser handle, which allows you to dispense your slushie
or milkshake-type beverage when it is done.
And the rest of the machine is pretty simple.
Let me take it apart and show you how easy this is to work with, clean, and put back together.
The main hopper right here has a lid on the top where you're going to pour in whatever it is
you're turning into a slushie.
And to remove this so you can clean it, we just unlock it, and it slides right off the front.
Inside here, you have a corkscrew spinner like you have probably seen on the icy-type slushie machines
at places like convenience stores.
And inside here is a condensation drip tray that will catch anything that drips down off of this
into the bottom as you are making the slushie.
And here we have our cooling compressor unit.
The nice thing about having this is you do not need ice to turn this into a slushie,
which means you're not going to water down whatever beverage or milkshake-type stuff you put inside of here.
It's extremely easy to put back together.
We're just going to add our drip tray for the condensation.
Then we add our spinning corkscrew.
And our main hopper cover.
And we lock it in place.
And there we go, the S1 is ready to go.
Let me pull out some ingredients, and I'm going to show you a couple of different things
and explain the science of what you need to do to make this work.
The secret ingredient you are going to need is allulose.
Now I understand not everyone can handle allulose,
and not everyone around the world can get a hold of allulose.
But if you don't have allulose in this, unfortunately, it's just not possible unless you add sugar.
Since we're avoiding adding sugar, we're going to use allulose to keep this keto approved,
and I'm going to explain why and show you how to measure it out.
So this is everything we need to make a keto electrolyte slushie.
I am going to be using Salty by Keto Chow.
My Keto Chow link will be in the description box.
If you want to get a discount, you can go down there and get yourself some salty electrolytes.
These are our absolute favorite because no maltodextrin, there's no questionable ingredients,
and it is the highest percentage of potassium and magnesium per pack
that we have seen from any of the electrolyte companies.
These are our absolute favorites, and I have them every single day.
They also are a great way to make some fantastic slushies.
So here's what we're going to do.
I'm going to use one packet of this, and I'm going to do 32 ounces of water.
This has a minimum fill line of 16 ounces.
I like it a little bit less intense than that,
but you could easily do at least 16 ounces in one packet,
or you could do 32, add two packets, whatever you want to do.
We're going to do one packet, 32 ounces of water.
I also have some lemon juice, which you'll see why that's really important in a second,
and I have allulose.
Now let me explain why you need allulose.
If you don't have a certain percentage inside the liquid that you are turning into a slushie,
it will not turn into a slush.
It's a chemical issue with the water and the freezing temperature and the way it freezes.
You cannot get a slushie consistency without sugar.
So that is the reason that all of those places that have sugar-free slushies
usually are still adding some sugar to the base,
even if the flavoring they use does not have sugar in it.
We can get around this by using allulose,
because allulose has the same chemical effect on the water as it's freezing as the sugar.
The reason we need to use this is because if we don't,
it's going to turn into a solid block of ice and the machine is just going to shut off.
It's not going to freeze properly and turn into the right slushie texture.
Now the way we do this is we need at least 5% of the weight of the solution that we are making a slush, allulose.
So what I'm going to do is I'm going to use a scale,
and eventually you can just kind of do this without having to weigh it.
You'll just be able to measure it out properly,
but I'm going to turn on my scale and I'm going to go ahead and pour in 32 ounces of water
and we're going to see what reading we get from that.
So we're a little under 900 grams right now and that's maybe a little bit over 32 ounces.
That's totally fine because we're doing this by weight and percentages,
so it doesn't really matter.
So what I'm going to do is go ahead and add in some lemon juice.
The acid is going to help offset the additional sweetness that we're going to be adding with our allulose.
So I'm going to add in a couple of splashes of lemon juice next.
And that has perfectly brought us up to 900 grams.
So what we're going to do is take 5% of that.
So 1% of 900 grams would be 9 grams.
We're going to do roughly 50 grams of allulose for this 32 ounces of water.
So I'm going to add in 50 grams by weight of the powdered allulose that I have here as well as my salty packet
and I'm going to whisk that all together and make sure it is fully dissolved and ready to go.
Once we have this fully dissolved and mixed in, all we need to do is pour it in the heaper of our slushie machine.
We're going to turn it on and I'm going to set the slushie setting to make this a slushie.
Now you can adjust the thickness level, how frozen, how thick you like your slushie.
You can play around with those settings on this machine.
It's very customizable, but it's really cool.
We're going to go ahead and put that in there and we're going to turn it on.
Now if you're asking, can I use something other than allulose?
Could I use another keto sweetener?
In my experience, no.
There is no other keto sweetener that chemically is going to work the same way as allulose.
Now if one of you finds one that you can do this and you can make it work, please let the rest of us know what it is.
But to my knowledge, there is no keto sweetener outside of allulose
that is going to give you the chemical effect that you need on the freezing properties of the water
that will allow it to become that slushie fluffy texture we've all come to know and love.
Let's go ahead and pour this in.
Let's get some slushies making themselves up and we're going to give them a taste.
So I chilled this mixture just a little bit.
That's going to make this happen a little faster.
Let's go ahead and pour it in the machine.
I have the thickness set right in the middle, so we're going to see what thickness that comes out to be.
All we need to do is press play and it'll beep when it's done.
Now that the slushie machine is working and making our electrolyte salty slush,
we're going to show you guys that when it gets done.
But let me go ahead and jump to Future Me, showing you guys another recipe you can do with this.
Hello, it is Future Me.
And today I'm going to be adding in a keto chow shake into this S1 slushie machine from Indoviva.
We're all used to making our keto chow shakes the normal way according to the package directions on our keto diet.
But this is a different and fun way to enjoy a more slushie frozen beverage style of keto chow shake.
And honestly, I think it tastes even better.
So this was one packet of chocolate peanut butter keto chow because that's the flavor that Ash wanted today.
And then I weighed out allulose as 5%.
I used 16 ounces of water plus 8 ounces of ice later on.
And I used cream as my fat source.
I put in the hot 16 ounces of water along with the shake, the cream, blended that all up along with the allulose.
And then I added the ice in to chill it back down because we don't want to put hot liquids into the S1 slushie machine.
So I'm going to put this in. I'm going to use the milkshake setting.
And we're going to turn this on and we're going to have a chocolate peanut butter shake for Miss Ash after dinner.
So I moved this to the highest level of thickness.
It just beeped to tell us it was done.
That took probably about 20-25 minutes.
We're going to dispense some milkshake and we're going to give it a try.
All right, let's try these chocolate peanut butter keto chow shakes from the S1 slushie machine.
This is a completely different kind of keto chow shake than what we can get when I make it like in the blender and keep it in the fridge.
I'm here for this.
I can already tell this is really thick.
Stop. Oh my gosh.
That is by far the best keto chow milkshake I've ever had.
Totally different. It's like very thick. It's creamy.
You know what it reminds me of is a little bit softer, more milkshake texture of a Wendy's Frosty.
And you know what? I used to love getting like the Wendy's Frosties and stuff.
I also feel like this machine is so easy.
This milkshake is phenomenal.
I'm really glad we have one of these and I feel like we're going to be using this a lot in our household.
I very rarely have keto chow. It's really more that she drinks keto chow.
But if we're doing keto chow shakes, I'll probably mix it up in the blender and throw it in here every time.
Because I think we drink them so rarely when we do.
I would love to have them the best way possible.
This, in my opinion, is the best way to do it because the texture is great.
The flavor is great.
You could mix your keto chow, stick it in the fridge overnight the way people do.
And then just pull it out, throw it in here chilled and make a milkshake.
So when you typically make keto chow milkshakes for me in the blender,
I usually will have you make them for me and then I will try to put them in the fridge for as long as possible.
So with this, though, you simply open the packet, made it in the blender and you put it in here.
I don't taste a difference.
I don't know how that works, like what the science is behind that.
But I don't feel like this needs to go sit overnight.
And this chocolate peanut butter flavor is actually my favorite flavor of keto chow, hands down.
I'm super impressed.
You guys definitely need to get an S1 slushie machine if you love your keto chow shakes because this is a great way to do it.
I love the design of the slushie machine.
It's very thin. It's very narrow.
It's also very quiet.
It's still running. We're standing here talking and it's still running.
I've cleaned it now a couple of times.
Really easy to take apart, easy to clean.
I'm such a big fan of this machine, though.
Well, cool. Well, that's the keto chow version of the S1 slushie.
So future me is going to pass it back to past me to finish up with that other part of the slushie video for you guys.
And there we go.
The slushie machine just beeped.
It is done.
So all we have to do is dispense our slushie.
Look at that.
Does not make much noise at all.
Does a really good job.
Does not take up near as much space as one might expect.
If you have kids or grandkids, you know, like they they like things like snow cones and slushies and all that kind of stuff.
What a cool way to teach them to have stuff like that with much healthier parameters and without all of the sugar.
Like because of the allulose, it is going to be sweeter than what it would be just drinking the keto chow or the slushie or any of that different stuff.
But so like I'm kind of getting over a little bit of like a head cold as we're filming this.
And one of the things is like when your throat is sore.
I love having like ice cream, but also with like ice cream.
It's a lot of cream with like I can't do it.
So that's the cherry chill flavor of the salty.
Very fresh.
There's all different settings on this machine.
You guys saw how the keto chow shake came out as well.
It's just fun.
You know, especially like I said, if you have a family, you have kids, you have grandkids, you have people that might appreciate something like this.
Especially in the summertime or honestly, just milkshakes or slushies any time of the year, you might like it.
And it's cold.
Yeah, it's nice and frozen.
It's very soft, fluffy ice because of the allulose in there.
And here's the thing.
When you're done, you can just dispense the rest of it.
Turn off the machine, take it out, and it washes really easily and it goes back on your counter.
And again, it does not take up very much room.
And this has a max fill line of 48 ounces.
You got like a family of four to six people have plenty of slushie for the whole family to enjoy that night.
And it took 25 minutes or so for this to do this.
It happens very quickly and I could have dispensed it earlier than I did.
It was dispensable as a slushie even before it actually beeped for a number of minutes or so.
Probably 25 minutes or so is what this took.
That is the S1 Slushie Machine from Inoviva.
