From the end of January to February 15, Chinese people celebrated their most important holiday of the year - the Chinese new year. Giving out red envelopes is one of the customs during this period.
The money inside the red envelope makes people not only happy but also brings messages of blessings, good luck, wealth, and prosperity. Elders usually give red envelopes to the younger generation while bosses give to employees and so on.
However, giving police red envelopes has never been a custom of Chinese New Year. But the Chinese police aren’t ashamed when demanding them.
