On Monday, March 21st, China Eastern Airlines flight MU5735 crashed on its way to Guangzhou 广州. Flight records show that the plane had plunged more than 20,000 feet in just over a minute before crashing.
Western aviation experts have referred to this violent dive as "unprecedented" given the Boeing 737-800's outstanding safety record. Other experts speculate that some unusual event may have occurred during the flight.
The most bizarre one was that while cruising, flying at an altitude of 29,100 feet, it began a sudden and dramatic drop followed by a brief recovery of more than 1,000 feet and then swooped again, descending more than 25,000 feet in roughly one minute.
This has sparked all kinds of speculations among professionals globally: Was this a malfunction of the plane, or was it a deliberate move by the pilot?
