Embrace of NATO in China’s Back Yard Stokes Xi’s Worst Fears/ Beijing falls into the encirclement

Beijing has been worried about the idea of a U.S.-Japan-South Korea security alliance, but what it fears is what is coming. Yoon Suk-yeol not only expressed his willingness to participate in Quad, but also attended the NATO leaders summit for the first time. The NATO summit was held in Madrid, Spain from June 29 to 30. In addition to the 30 member countries, the meeting invited leaders from Pacific countries such as Japan, Korea, New Zealand and Australia to participate.
We have observed a series of somewhat unusual phenomena since April 2022. More and more events have resulted that red China faces its worst isolation in the world in more than 30 years.
For Chinese President Xi Jinping, dispatching his special envoy to Europe for a three-week charm tour was just one of many acts of high-stakes damage control ahead of the Twentieth Chinese Communist Party Congress this autumn.
