Fully Explained: Canada Study Visa - The Nigeria Student Express

hi my name is sheryl bassey and today i just want to talk about the canada study permits a process the difference between the regular stream and the nigerian student express stream um so what the differences are what the similarities are and which one you should actually choose okay so there's actually two ways to apply for a study permit in canada if you're from nigeria there's the regular stream and there's the nigerian student express stream which was started very recently for applicants from nigeria so that's the two ways to apply uh both streams actually require an acceptance letter from a designated learning institute a valid passport proof of funds a study plan which is just usually called an sop but you don't actually need proof of paid tuition except that is required by the school now due to the delays with um study visa applications and the fact that there was an sds for some asian countries the canadian government now brought up what is called the nigerian student express which is sort of like an expedited visa processing for nigerian students and then it has some requirements that are different if you're going through the regular stream okay so the nigerian student express is only for students from nigeria who have received admission letters for degree studies and it has a shorter processing time it's usually about 20 days or that's what it's supposed to be as against the 8 to 12 weeks for the regular stream however if you're using the nigerian student express you need financial verification which is known as my bank certificate showing that you have sufficient funds for your studies an equivalent of 30 000 canadian dollars is required for at least six months so you need to send your banking history for the last 12 months that yours or your sponsor and an equivalent of 30 000 canadian dollars needs to be there unlike the regular stream the nigerian student express requires an english language test that's the ielts so you have to actually submit an ielts test if you want to be considered for the nigerian student express and then upfront medical is usually required now for the regular stream you do not have to submit an upfront medical except you want to now the normal thing is that the visa officer will actually request for a medicals when it is time for them to approve your application now you can go ahead and submit your application using the normal stream you do not have to use the nigerian student express stream however ircc may contact you to ask you if you would like to be considered under the nigerian student express and if you say yes they would request the additional information and documents including the english test and the my bank statement however if you do not respond to them they will just assume that you don't want and just treat your application using the normal stream if you do respond and say you want to actually be considered under the nsc then they will request this document please note that you do not have to do the nsc um you can just do the regular stream and there are actually people who have said that they don't actually process the applications in 20 days but hopefully it is actually shorter than the 8 to 12 weeks that they used to process the regular stream a lot of people have asked about the difference between nsc and regular stream and if it's what's them applying for the regulars for the nsa rather than a regular stream so i've given you like what each stream has what they involve and the advantages and disadvantages of each if you actually do have the ielts test and your bank actually can give you a my bank my bank statement um and you can actually do your upfront medicals i do not see any reason why you should not apply under the nse um so do you want to move forward with your canada study plans you can visit our website at www.relocatecanada.bees and please like subscribe and share this video thank you very much and i hope to see you on the inside bye for now
