The diabetic annual review is a core part of GP workload, every year inviting patients with diabetes to come for a focused examination to assess:

- How they are coping with the diabetes
- What is their diabetic control like
- Check the patient's blood pressure
- Annual Review of diabetic and related medications
- Blood pressure check and foot review
- Dip urine to check for protein

Although not performed at the review, enquiring about diabetic retinal screening, and confirming plans for flu vaccination are also key
