Olecranon dislocations are the second most common joint dislocation in the body after shoulder dislocations.

More than the mechanism for dislocating your elbow is horribly simple. A fall on an outstretched hand or FOOSH. A simple trip, arm out in front of you and "pop goes the elbow"

Whilst the mechanism behind elbow dislocations is straightforward, fixing the dislocation depends on what has happened with the injury - you can have a simple dislocation where the elbow pops out, but you can also end up with complex dislocations associated with fractures which are much harder to treat

dislocated elbows are usually fixed in the A&E department when fractures have been excluded. But in extreme situations, you can have just the single clinician performing the reduction - watch on for how!
