So basically, both parties need to approve and then they have a 30 days cool off grace period. And then during this 30 days, I think if one party still does not want to get a divorce, then they aren't getting a divorce. And then the second thing is that once you marry into that family, basically the dowry is refundable. So I found out recently is that if the woman marries a man and the man already has debt, then the woman also needs to pay off his debt. Before his marriage? If he had the divorce? Yeah, before the marriage. Oh. Yeah. And then if the woman has debt, the man does not need to help pay off the woman's debt. Okay, so you're saying if the man accumulated debt before his marriage, then after the divorce, the wife still needs to help him pay it off. Regardless if it was before marriage or after marriage. But I guess in China, the laws are still very... Pro-men, I'd say. But their laws are nothing. Yeah. I mean, even if they have laws, it's another question if they even back up their law. Or if the women belong to a really high CCP... Family? Yeah, family, daughter, then it's a whole different story, I think. Just take the law a grain of salt. So... Yes, I'm writing notes. Yeah, with a grain of salt. So I'm bringing up this divorce because in China, there's currently actually seeing a lot of videos about this particular case. So there's this lady called Xiao Xie. And she has a Douyin account called Shi Xiao Xie, which is basically it's Xiao Xie. And then so her account has been getting a lot of views because of the things that happened to her. So a brief timeline on her basic life story. Yeah, what happened to her. Right, so in about 2021, she got married. And then in about 2023, April 25th, she got domestic abuse so bad to the point that she got sent to the hospital. That's like within two years, right? That's within two years, yeah. And then afterwards, in five days, on May 30th and the 31st, she filed for divorce. She went to court. So the court actually approved of her divorce and she has custody of the child. And then on December 26th, she reappealed her husband's case. Why? We'll get to that later. Okay. And then on January 8th, she is repealing her husband's case again. So basically what happened was that she was married for two years. At that time, she was 29 years old. She got domestic abuse 16 recorded times. Time that she got sent to the hospital on 2024 in April 25th. It was so bad to the point that her husband beat the intestines out of her. Her left liver got damaged. Her ribs got damaged. Her kidney also got damaged. So she got beaten so bad to the point that the hospital, the doctors had to cut off like 12 millimeters of her intestines and then like roll it up and then put it back in. Oh my gosh. So descriptive. So she has like a 30 millimeter like scar from her abnum all the way down to her like her lower belly. Oh my gosh. How hard do you have to be to get like your organs? Yeah. Because they cut out like part of her intestines. She can't go to the bathroom normally. So she has to use like one of those poop bags. Oh my gosh. So when this first came out in April of last year, a lot of media outlets they interviewed her, right? So I found two very like iconic, I would say, videos of her being interviewed. And one of them was from a lady called Nan Nan. Miss Nan Nan was also a victim of domestic abuse. She got pushed off a cliff. That cliff was 34 meters high. Because of the cliff, she got 17 fractures. Wow. And she lost her kid and she will have a hard time like getting pregnant again. Was she pushed down? Yeah, she was pushed down by her ex-husband. So this is the interviewer. Oh, okay. This is the interviewer's background. So she's experienced this kind of domestic abuse violence and she's interviewing Xiao Xie. So then Miss Nan Nan, she's basically saying like, what's your story? What happened to you? Like, you can do this. This happened to me four years ago. We can both fight it. Like in the interview, we're going to put up clips. Miss Xie basically says there was a couple of times where it was so bad that I don't want to live. Like just having that poop bag is very hard for her because she's not used to it. Like it's very inconvenient. She can't go out in the public because people will hear like the stuff going into the bag. Like there will be like sounds. So she can't control. No, she can't control. She can't control it. Oh, that's so like, people are going to judge. Yeah, people are going to judge. Especially, you know, people nowadays, they judge everything. You know, even if you're a normal person. Yeah. Wow. I mean, the abuse that her husband caused her is like leaving her not just the pain she had during whenever he was hitting her, but the after effect, like it's a lifetime. Yeah, it is. That's just crazy. So in that interview, there's this one part of that interview that really, really struck a chord with me. And then we're going to bring up to you right now. 16 times were only the 16 times ever recorded, right? Like we don't even know. But even during those 16 times, they didn't take any action. It wasn't until it got like so bad. Right. Then the court and the police took some action. Right. Yeah. Yeah, that's a bit too much. Yeah. She's just saying like, I reached out to the police. I reached out to my people at the workplace. But nobody helped out. Like if at least once the police actually detained him for, I don't know, like how long? 5, 10, 15 minutes, right? Like as long as he has that notion like, Oh, this is bad. Doing this will get me in jail. Some consequences. Right. And then she wouldn't be at this point in life. But why didn't she try to get a divorce? Both sides need to agree. Oh, OK. So yeah, even during that time, she wasn't able to. Yeah. So back to his family, right? There's another interview with her. And it basically, the interviewer asked her, she's like, Oh, did the guy ask for forgiveness? For what? I know, right? For everything that he's done, I guess. And then she's like, yes. But he also said that, Do me a favor and write me a letter forgiving me. OK. Because writing that letter will help decrease his sentence. Oh, after he got sentenced to jail. Yeah. He reached out to her for her forgiveness and for her to write a consent or apology letter or forgiveness. A sentence letter. Yeah. So that he can have a shorter sentence time. Wow. And then she's like, she doesn't want to write the sentence, right? Yeah, don't write that. Look at what happened to her, right? It was they wanted that letter so bad that the guy's sister started the sister's writing, right? And then in the second paragraph, it basically says it's like, Oh, you can't fight like this with my brother. Like, it won't do you any good. You guys stopped fighting, right? Yeah. And then the sister-in-law also goes on saying, It's like, oh, but what will you do? What about the child? What about the family? And then I'm like, bro, like he should have thought about this before he even did anything. Yeah. Before he laid his hands on her. Yeah, exactly. Right. And then they also, the sister-in-law also goes on in saying, what you're doing is putting salt on the wounds. Her wounds? Yeah, I know, right? His wounds. Ugh. And then the sister-in-law also says, You have no heart. Yeah, you have no heart. Yeah, pretty much. Yeah. That's what it translates to. And then she replied, everything that anybody does have consequences, right? And then she goes on to say, 六親不認 is basically like, you are not acknowledging your relatives and you won't die a good death. Yeah. Yeah, you'll go to hell pretty much. Why is his sister saying this? Like, is she crazy? I know, right? Like, why are you helping your brother when your brother was clearly in the wrong? First of all, how does the guy have the gut to ask his ex-wife or wife for an apology letter for what he has done to her? Yeah. What is he thinking? Like, I'm sorry, I would never, even if I had such a big heart, I don't think I can do that for my husband. Yeah. After what he has done to her, how did he even have the guts? Why did she appeal to the court's decision, right? So at first, the court granted the ex-husband 11 years in prison. The court awarded her with $52,857 USD for her case, right? But then she reappealed it. She's like, first of all, if he does come out of the prison at the end of the day, after 11 years, he will surely find her and kill her. I mean, as a person who's viewing this case, I would say, yeah, this guy is cuckoo in the head. Exactly. Yeah. He's psycho. Yeah. Psychopath. Right. And then a lot of netizens are like, oh, you have so much money. You've been awarded so much money. You must have stole his money too. During the time when they're married. And then she's like, okay, first of all, this money is for my lawyers. She has two different lawyers, right? And then she also said that if you have proof of me stealing his money, show it to me. So this is just people commenting? Yeah, this is just people commenting. Not people that know her? No. Don't say stuff. They're just... Blackmailing her. Blackmailing? Yeah, kind of. I guess. But they have no proof. They're just saying it. If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything. Like, don't comment. And then, so the thing is, she came out with a video saying that, first of all, with how the husband is, like, he will see his money if the money was gone or not. And then, who would be the first person that he would turn to? The wife. Exactly. Right? If he noticed that, he would have killed her. Yeah. Right away. Yeah. Description of that kind of personality is like, psycho. Yeah. He can just beat her for like, the tiniest thing. And like, his money getting stolen? Yeah. That's like, the end of her. And then, so the last thing I want to bring up in regards to Ms. Xie is that, as a way to fundraise her lawsuit against the court's decision and for her child support and everything else. Yeah, she doesn't have much, lawyers cost a lot of money. Lawyers cost a lot. Exactly. Like, one minute, like, I don't know, they go by the minutes. Oh, Lordy. Yeah. And then, so her case, she started in 2024 till now. I mean, it's been a year. It's been a year. That's a lot of money burnt, right? So, she started, um, selling things on Douyin, like, on the platform. streaming? Yeah, and streaming, right? And then, during the stream, she got called out by a random guy that's like, oh, why are you so unbeatable? Like, 你怎麼那麼耐打? Like, that 耐打 means like, why can you take hits so well? Why would you comment such a thing? Yeah. Like, after what's been, what, after what she's been through, like, seriously, have a bit of compassion. Yeah, or even if you don't have any compassion for her, like, people on the internet, like, don't, just control your hands. Yeah. Don't type anything. Don't say anything. Like if you don't know what happened, basically the CCP came out and was like, you don't need to follow culture. You don't need to follow religion. Yeah, they just believe in the Communist Party. So once the viewer said that, the person who was helping her, the other content creator that was helping her, she's like, I'm telling you, Chinese ladies, they're like fierce. They're fearless, man. I'm working on it. We're just waiting for what the court will decide on her case, on her second appeal. Yeah, I don't know, but I think one thing is if you can get it blown up, like any kind of news blown up and the government can't contain it, they will do something a little bit on their surface. Like she has the gut to come out and work, even sell stuff like that. That's a lot and tell her story. And yeah, she's trying to fight her for herself and let go of the past.
