Arts and design, arts, light art, light painting"
Hi guys, I know this is a video about lighting but I've got a film to shoot tomorrow.
I just want to show you the things I'm packing ready for the shoot.
So I've got some stuff packed already but there's a few things I need.
So let me show you over here.
Oh by the way, there's people watching on live.
So if you're watching this video now and you were on there on a live stream
then it's like a time travel.
Right guys?
Kind of.
So what have I packed so far?
I've got a monitor and a transmitter.
And then this bag is where the camera and bits stuff to go.
How am I going to get this stuff into this suitcase?
It's not going to go in.
But come with me, come with me.
Look, look behind me.
This is my workstation.
I'm going to show you what sound gear I'm taking for tomorrow's shoot.
All right, I'm sorry.
This is my desk.
It's pretty messy, I know.
It needs to tidy up.
But this is the computer I edit on.
This is a monitor.
This is lots of hard drive.
I sometimes use this to speak for films and there's lots of bits here.
Anyway, sound gear.
The Hollyland Lark Max, which one of them is using right now I'm talking on.
So that's what I'm going to use.
But look, this is a special, this is a special thing I want to show you.
So tomorrow's film is going to be mostly daytime.
And I'm going to use the natural light because this place has got large windows.
So there'll be a couple lights from my friend who you'll see on set later.
Tomorrow, I mean.
And the only light I'm taking is this one.
This is the GVM pocket light.
It's like a torch.
But quickly, it's a 60 by light.
It's got a battery.
It's pretty good.
Let me just turn it on, see how bright it is.
Let me show you.
Look, look how bright this is.
So I'm going to, oh, what was that?
Something dropped.
There's a ghost.
There's also accessories for this light.
For example, this top handle.
And a soft box here attached which softens the light.
But we're not going to use that in tomorrow's shoot because we need strong light.
Okay, the next thing I need to pack is the camera.
Where's the camera?
Ah, that's the camera I'm using right now.
It's in my hand.
But I'm using the Sony a7IV.
That's for the whole shoot tomorrow.
So I can't pack that because I'm using it to shoot.
But there is something I need.
It's this.
This is the Tiffen ND filter because most of the shots will be daytime tomorrow.
So this is like a variable ND.
It's going to go on the lens.
And I think that's all I need.
Little bits of chargers and cables.
Tripod got that light.
That's all I need, the light.
Yeah, that's it guys.
So next time you see me, you'll be on the set using that light.
But this is the light I want to show you which I brought on set.
I showed you earlier.
It's the GVM Pocketlight 60B.
So I'm going to connect to the app.
As you can see here, we have already connected to the app.
This is on the iPhone.
It's a GVM app.
I can switch on and the light comes on.
Now I have different options.
I can increase the intensity and make it really bright.
And also you can change the colour from warm.
This is quite warm and it's really cold.
And there's also effects as well.
But what's good is I can set this light here.
Set up here.
So I've set this light on the tripod.
I think what I'm going to do when the actors arrive is point the light from behind.
There's a little bit of hair light hitting them from behind.
You'll see on the screen later how that looks more cinematic.
Because you want to break the character from the background if it's too dark.
Even in this daylight scene, this light would be perfect to just break that character
from the background and then.
So you can see these two characters here lit by the sunlight daylight from outside.
From behind, it's going to be pretty dark.
So we set up this GVM pocket light here pointing at the gentleman on the right.
And if we look, this is happening with the light.
And then we turn it off.
It's pretty dark on his face on the right side.
And this is back on again.
And this light just makes it a little bit more cinematic.
We also use this light in another room where it lights the whole room.
Give it a bit more kind of feel light.
And this film is called a four hour tour impact, which will come out on my channel very soon.
