You Can Do This. #everide

I think we all have that little voice in the back of our minds, the one that says, you can do this. We usually have a response somewhere just as deep that says, no, you can't do this. Well, which one do we give more credit to? Which one do we listen to? Most importantly, which one do we act on? It doesn't matter what your this is, if you really want it, if you know it will be good for your life, if you've weighed the consequences and it's truly worth it, then yeah, you can do this. You can traverse the highest peaks, you can delve into the deepest canyons, and you can find yourself in so many beautiful places between the two. You can cross borders and cross boundaries and cross off the things that you know will make your life more complete on that elusive bucket list of yours, whether you've actually written one down or whether it's just covered by a little dust up in the attic of your mind. You can push yourself beyond your limits, both by going nowhere fast, by going fast in the middle of nowhere. Oh! You can travel as far as your bravery will take you, whether that's thousands of miles away or just 10 meters to the top of a steep climb. In either case, the consequences of mistake can get quite interesting, but don't let that feed the voices that tell you that you can't. You're going to be okay. You got this. And these travels, these trails, this whole lifestyle, none of it is reserved exclusively for the rich or the skilled or the young. I'm none of those. It is reserved, however, for the disciplined and the brave and the adventurous. You need the discipline to save and to maintain and to practice. You need the bravery to commit, to try, and to endure. And the adventurous part? Well, that's just the byproduct of the other two combined with the right amount of freedom. You can do this. And how do I know that you can do it? Because I've done it. Not the exact hill climb you're revving your motor at or the precise destination that you're charting on Google Maps, but we are similar because I, like you, have a hundred different voices in my head, all with a hundred different excuses not to try or to act or to be. But I only need one phrase to silence them all. And if I can do this, then you can too. All of this. You can see this and feel it and be a part of this world. All you need is the right attitude and the right vehicle doesn't hurt either. It's the next time you hear that little voice that says you can do this and the excuses and the fear and the malarkey all chime in together.
