Banh Chung represents the earth in Vietnamese culture. Its shape looks like the Chinese character of 田 (farm).
To make the dish, we need to have rice, pork, mung bean and dong leaves. In English, dong leaves are called Stachyphrynium placentarium. And in Chinese, their name is 尖苞柊葉.
My family makes Banh Chung only on the lunar new year festival. This is the 3rd year that my daughter wrapped Banh Chung. Let's see how she made them.
