What Happens If You Make A 10ft bow?

if you see this giant bow in action run I built a 10-ft bow in the last video in today's video we're pushing that bow to its limits you want to go shoot bows this weekend yeah let me grab mine here's the clear comparison so this is a 72in bow that's as biggest bow as I've ever built and when you compare it to the 10-footer it's a baby it doesn't look like that large of a bow when I hold it like this but when you go vertically and you realize at the handles at my shoulder and I'm 6'4 or 63 it shows you this is a big bow what I'm going to do is shoot it see how it feels and then I'm going to keep extending the draw length until hopefully we get beyond the length of our arrows we'll build a new arrow that could be long enough for this draw length this is only my second shot it actually like it shoots okay the arrows are moving quite slow but that's expected with so much mass and so much length and I think we've already extended beyond what our arrows can do so we're talking 33 in draw right there and I don't want to shoot my finger so I'll let it down a little bit but oh turns out it's not a good idea to look at your hand when you're shooting let's build an arrow worthy of Goliath I have never practiced this skill set of making arrows taking a hickory scrap but I'm thinking we should make it 45 in maybe [Music] I've never tried this before we'll see what happens hopefully it works [Laughter] it split out the wood already I got to figure something out that might be better kind of working I don't think it helps that this is so long that it's it's so uh flimsy and waving you see that that that's not what's supposed to happen maybe I'll try a small piece my attempt at a dow jig is a unbelievable failure maybe for the Dow jig smooth out this as close to the Finish size as possible and then use it in the Dow jig so it's not chipping off as much material either that or maybe make sure my chisel's Sharp enough I'm pretty sure it's pretty sharp though ah I'll figure it out [Music] [Applause] that's what I'm talking about oh yeah we got it I tried to tweak it yeah that'll work okay now let's try it with the real piece see I don't know if this is going to screw me up cuz it's not straight oh I have an idea uh let's test out a modification [Music] [Applause] what oh [Applause] [Music] yeah we got a 4ft arrow now it's time to put fletchings on it I'm going to do some proper fletchings for this big guy [Music] here we go if you could smell it why does something burning smell so good I showed you the normal bow and the big 10-ft bow so let's compare a normal Arrow to a 4 foot Arrow normal fletchings verse my missiles fletchings awesome now we just have to shoot this this is pretty cool normal Arrow first now the monster arrow with as far of a draw as I can do my question is can we draw this back to 48 in all right I'm out of the snow here how bad of an idea is this guys it's going to fly off my foot though oh my goodness no way all right let's see if we can put a little bit more on this okay still have a foot of potential draw so let's see if we can get it a little further that went twice as far new record okay here's my perspective over the shoulder basically I'm going to try to shoot right over those trees it's this missile this massive thing going through the air it's crazy it's fascinating cuz it has so much weight to it that this Frozen winter snowy ground it's going about 6 in into the ground which is crazy for it only shooting like 100 yards or so but I guess it's just so heavy it's it's got that punching power I'm not going to shoot you but I'll show you what it's like to be shot at hurry they're coming Lock and Load your weapons oh don't worry I got the 4ft arrow with the 10t bow you know this would look so much cooler if I were short and not tall so being tall doesn't have all the benefits I guess it probably would have got me more clicks I'll see you guys soon on the next video subscribe if you'd like to I'm putting out a video every day uh between shorts and full forms let me know what your next cool idea is cuz I'll do it my truck's right there the camera's there maybe shoot it right here God bless see you guys soon
