Waiting for Rabbits Under the Tree
Once upon a time, there was a hardworking farmer who tended his fields every day. In the middle of his field stood an old tree with a big, strong stump.
One day, a frightened rabbit ran straight into the stump, hit its head, and fell down. The farmer was surprised and thought, “Wow! A rabbit all ready for me! What luck!” He took it home and enjoyed a good meal.
The next day, instead of working, the farmer sat by the stump, hoping another rabbit would come. Day after day, he waited and waited, but no rabbits ever came. Meanwhile, his crops withered, weeds grew, and his field was ruined.
The villagers laughed at him, saying, “The rabbit was just an accident! You can’t rely on luck—you have to work hard.”
In the end, the farmer lost his field, his food, and his wealth, because he had stopped working and waited for luck instead of doing his part.
Moral: Don’t rely on luck or accidents—hard work and effort are what truly bring success.
