One of the most common questions we are asked is how we find so many cool and unique things to do in the places we visit on our RV life journey. In this video, we'll share some of our favorite tips and tricks while we wanderlocal in Vermont.

One of the best things about the RV lifestyle is that it's a pretty solid mix of the regular
mundane stuff just done with a little bit of a twist and getting to experience and see all sorts
of new places on just a regular weekend. This week we're in Vermont and we're gonna bring you along
and show you how we find really cool fun unique places while we travel RV way. The first small
business we're visiting this week is Bent Hill Brewery which is in Braintree, Vermont. If you've
seen our other videos, you know we're always on the hunt for delicious unique foodie stops
and even better if they include a craft brew. This place did not disappoint. The outdoor dining area
was beautiful and their menu featured craft beers with unique ingredients like pickle juice and
jalapenos. They had tons of tasty food creations like crispy brussel sprouts and a vegetarian
poutine that even baby Dash wanted to try. Don't worry, we didn't let him. He's still a little too
young for that. The way we found this amazing spot is that the campground provided us a list of their
favorite spots which is super helpful. Now not every campground does that but this particular one
did and we're so thankful for that. The next place we're going to show you was a good old-fashioned
recommendation from one of you, our YouTube family. Shout out to Michelle who's actually
going to join us on this adventure as well. Adventure ready! All right we're headed to
Bar, Vermont which is right outside of the main capital to go check out a really cool coffee shop.
Five minutes later this is basically what baby Dash's version of travel looks like. Nap time!
This is Michelle who we met through our channel a couple years back. He drove down from Canada to
hang out with us today but his family spent summers in Vermont not very far from here
making him the perfect guide for showing us around town and he found what may be the most
unique local coffee shop we have ever been to.
Welcome to Bar, Vermont. This is the first and according to their website the only cat cafe in
the world and if you're a cat lover it's basically the greatest thing ever. One half of the building
is a cafe where you can grab a latte or a yummy locally sourced pastry. On the other side you have
tons of kitties that need all the love and snuggles. I have a few quick rules for you
guys. Nothing very complicated. Somebody already read the memo. I'm asking you to take your shoes
off. If you've got socks on your butt I'd also have some slippers if you'd like. You're going
to get swarmed. This group is very very sweet and they're definitely going to crawl up on your back
for a cup. These sweet little animals are all in search of their forever homes so if you come for
a visit and fall in love all the better. There's a five dollar fee per person. Babies are free
to visit and snuggle with the kitties for half an hour and all the funds go towards their health
and care. Dash was pretty convinced we needed to bring one home to the Airstream. Daddy vetoed that
for now but talk about cuteness overload. I'm pretty sure someone should open one of these
with puppies too. They're like they like your camera.
That kitty doesn't like the camera.
Like I'm still here. You're gonna pet my ears and I know it. I'll pick it up for you Dash but
please don't. Yeah we can't pick up the kitty cats. Give kisses. Give kisses Christine.
You got two kitty cats. Do you like them? Are they cute?
As new parents a second round of coffee is almost always a requirement and this place is a perfect
example of how we often find great stops too. We found Espresso Bueno through the google maps app
on our phones. Simply search for coffee shop and we look for places that have four and a half stars
or more and 200 plus reviews. It's super rare that if a place falls into these categories that
they aren't delicious. The next place on our adventure with Michel is super unique. He found
it through booking it as an airbnb but if you do a quick google search for quote unique things to do
in bar vermont end quote it'll come up in a myriad of articles too. So this is the firehouse inn which
is actually above where we're gonna go to lunch and grab some pizza but this is really neat. So much
to see huh? This place is adorable. That's what it looked like then but it's what it looks like now.
Yeah that thing is like I've never even seen anything like that. This is a switchboard. Yeah
So how many rooms are up here? I think three over there, two over there.
How clever. All the menus in the bar in the grill. Yeah. They have the name of Furman.
That's neat. This place is so beautiful. Oh look at the little refrigerator.
They did a really nice job with this place.
Super cute. I love that you made up your bed in an airbnb. I love making up the bed every day.
It makes me happy. I have an accident. I have an accident. Yesterday I warmed up
my leftover dinner and it cracked in the middle.
The pizza spot on the first floor is such a fun atmosphere.
If you're hungry while you're watching this video, I apologize in advance.
Apparently Daniel cannot get me eating without like chewing it like a cow. It's great.
Oh the pizza is delicious. Two thumbs up or four out of five flamingos.
Another great fun way that we find cool unique things to do when we're out and about is through
our friends like you. Specifically those of you who hang out with us on Instagram and Facebook.
This was a recommendation and it's something that is very unique specifically to Vermont.
So we're pretty excited to check it out. Right Dash? I got lipstick on you again dude.
We're about to get sappy with you. We are at Morse Farms Maple Sugar Works and Vermont is
known for being the only state that actually produces our own maple. So this is one of the
places they do that. That's an owl dash. That's a noise it makes. Morse Farm is located in Montpelier,
Vermont's capital, which is the smallest capital of any state in the U.S. The maple farm is family
owned and has been for generations. These fun whimsical carved folk life characters
were created by Burr Morse whose ancestors learned how to tap the maple trees of Vermont
by Native Americans. I have a really fun little video in there that comes from the owner. This
is a family-run farm but really interesting. I had no idea that maple syrup was only made
one month out of the year and it's in spring so it starts with one really big snow and by the end
they said it ends in mush but it takes 40 gallons of maple sap to turn into one gallon of maple syrup
which is crazy. Who knew? The sap from the maple trees is farmed from thousands of trees here on
the property and brought into these little buildings. They pump it into these storage
tanks and then use a reverse osmosis system to remove excess water which saves time and fuel
when producing maple syrup. On the video they said one of the best ways to eat maple syrup
is on ice cream so I'm pretty pumped about that.
All right so they make maple creamies aka soft serve ice cream with maple syrup and they're
delicious. This is the medium. I'm pretty sure I should have gone with the baby but it's yum.
You're not jelly yet but you will be someday when you see this.
Another really neat thing about this farm is that it's a Harvest Host. So if you aren't familiar
with Harvest Host, not a sponsor or any of that kind of crazy stuff, we just love Harvest Host.
So what a Harvest Host is, is it is a local brewery, farm, golf course, local attraction
where you can park your RV for the night. It has an annual membership. It's really inexpensive
but it's a great way especially we use them most often when we've got a long trip and we just need
a little quick overnight stay place. It's free. You just patron the business. So I can imagine if
we park the Airstream here we would absolutely love waking up to this view in the morning because
it is beautiful. Next time you visit a new place or simply want to discover something new in your
own town, the best tip we can give is to ask a local. People generally love to share their favorite
spots. Have a favorite place that you think we should visit? Leave a comment below but until next
week my friend, make sure you take the time to wander local this week. As you know, it's good for the soul.
