Hey, what's going on guys? My name is Christian. I'm playing lead guitar for
Upsulphur on this tour. I'm going to show you some of the guitars that I use.
For my main guitar, I'm playing my Solar. This is my A2.7 TBR. It's a 26.5 scale length.
It's a Sunkai body, maple neck, ebony fretboard. It's got standard tuners, standard hardshell,
or part tail bridge. I have my DiMarzio clip locks on there. I have them on all my guitars.
The pickups in this are the Duncan Solar pickups. Great pickups. I love them. However,
I've just received a set of the Fishman Tosin Abasi signatures from Fishman,
so I plan on changing those in here. Like I said, great pickups, but I just grew up playing EMGs and
active pickups, so I'm just kind of used to that sound, how they react, so really excited to put
those in there. As far as the pickup configuration and everything, I always just have the tone and
volume all the way up. I kind of roll back the volume in between for certain things. I mostly
play on the bridge pickup for all the rhythms, but for the leads, especially like the sweep
arpeggios and stuff, always go to the bridge pickup there. As far as strings I'm using,
I'm using the Ernie Ball Regular Slinky 7-string set, so that's going to be, I believe, a 10-56.
So actually a little bit looser than what Chase is playing, the reason being is I like to have
that extra kind of looseness for a lot of the leads, the big pinch harmonics, everything like
that. So yeah, that's pretty much this guy here. All right, so this is my backup guitar.
This is a Jackson Slack XMG, so very similar to the other guitar. It's also a 26.5 scale.
I believe this is an alder body. Once again, set through construction,
standard tuners, standard hard shell. This actually has the EMG 707 actives,
which I kind of grew up playing, so a little bit more used to how those react. Once again,
the DiMarzio clip locks and same strings, everything like that. Yes, tuning, we play in
drop G tuning. And once again, I said the 10-56 with the Ernie Ball Regular Slinkys.
So this is our rack. I know the other guys kind of went over a lot of specifics in this,
so I won't get too into detail. I just have my wireless and my in-ear system.
Just like Chase, I'm also using the HX Stomp. The amps and effects that I use are a little
bit different. The main amp model I'm using is the Rev Purple Channel for the high gain rhythms.
There's also a little bit of compression and some post EQ going on, so that's the main rhythm tone.
And then for the leads, because I do a fair amount of leads and midi switches between those
pretty frequently, it's the same exact amp model and everything. The EQ is a little bit different.
I have a little bit more presence, a little bit more top end. And then on top of that, I'm using
a spring reverb and a little bit of a tape delay just to give it some more airiness for some of
the leads. There's also a little bit more compression because I do a lot of legato,
a lot of tapping and stuff, so I find that sometimes those get a little bit lost in the mix,
so having some compression to bring those parts up definitely really helps. The only other channel
that we have is at the very end of one of our songs called Be Fowler. We have this doing a
pitch down. I believe, if I'm not mistaken, it's like seven semitones at the very end, so really,
really low just pitch down for that breakdown. Same as the Rhythm Channel, just super low.
Once again, my name is Christian. I play guitar for Upsulphur on this tour. I want to thank
the guys for having me out on this run, as well as all the bands, Signs of the Swarm,
Kane Hill, 156 Silence and Awaken Providence. It's been an absolute blast so far. All the shows have
been awesome. Feel free to check out all the bands on social media, and yeah, thanks for having us.
