It's another new day pulling this out and I'm gonna show you it's gonna start
I've had trouble with this quad ever since I got it running
switch on
It runs until I try to write it then it stalls
Surprisingly it's running longer
All right, well, that's odd that's the first time I ever took it out and rode it for more than a minute or two and
Actually put some stress through it, you know a full throttle, you know breaking hard sliding and stuff like that
And ran just fine. Hmm what naturally
fixed this
Doesn't stall anymore and apparently has spark all the way through
Gonna test this a little bit more. So it's been a few days and
I haven't decided if I was gonna just buy the CDI box or could it be the ignition switch?
the ignition switch
Of course has the start button the kill button and the light high beam and low beam button
but inside
Could be corroded and maybe I should take that off first and maybe I just need a new ignition switch
And that would get rid of the gremlins of the start. No start. You never know when it'll start
It's a matter of fact. I just walked out today. Let's see
Batteries been charging all night. It's on the start mode
So what I jingle this it started maybe there's a lot of corrosion in this switch and it's not getting a good contact
I gotta get this going because it has to reliably
Start when I wanted to and shut off when I wanted to right now. You never know when it's gonna start
But just testing it right now while cranking the engine to turn won't start when you move the kill
Start button back and forth back and forth. It cut it wanted to start a couple of times
So maybe it's this switch that has corrosion inside if this doesn't work
The CDI box has five pins
One of the pins is the kill pin the kill the
Signal pin if I just disconnected that kill pin from the CDI
It should always start because nothing is there to kill it
Problem is if you did start it you couldn't shut it off
But let's take this off and see what we find inside I hope we can take it apart just two Phillips
Now it seems to be running
Shake this
Okay
So now just stop it's still unreliable because I don't know why it just stops
The switch is a little hinky, but I think it's better if we just disconnect the CDI
wire
I'd rather not be able to shut it off then not starting at all. Here's the CDI box
I'm gonna remove it from its connection the harness
Right there and
Then the CDI one is this middle one right here of the five pins. It's the middle pin right there
I've been researching so I know which means it's the black wire
So I'm gonna try to push the pin out so that we no longer have the black wire
You just take a like a pick or something stick it in this part right here where it holds it
Here black wire is out. So now there's no way to kill this
Let's plug this back in and try to start it and if it does start
You won't be able to shut it off. At least that's
my understanding
It doesn't start
So I removed this thing from the switch itself, this is just how it works
this is a
Start
Shut off start shut off
basically, it's just a
pivoting thing where it touches
those two wires so
to start
Touches both these things together
Shut it off
They're together. So that's how it works. If you want it to run only one wire is not they're not connected
When you will shut it off both wires are connected. So what if I just
Disconnected this switch altogether
So as long as the green does not touch the black with the white stripe it won't die
So should I just cut the black stripe one?
Because the green will always be connected mimicking that it's on so if I just cut the black wire
It'll never touch that
All right. That's not it. I just connected it again mess with this
And it worked when you mess with it, maybe
I'm starting to think it's a switch. I just get a new
Ignition switch this switch not the key thing this thing
I can get one of these because this every time I jingle this it does start
So maybe there's something loose in there, but I can't figure out what
So I just watched a video on how guy was saying that
You only need four wires to connect the CDI for you to get spark. And so I did what he said and
I don't get any spark
So I'm thinking maybe the CDI is bad or intermittent like it works sometimes and it doesn't work sometimes
Also, it could be this damn switch too. So I don't know
What am I gonna do with this thing? If I don't try to fix it, right?
I mean, I don't want to sink any more money into it, but
CDI is like eight bucks. So attack like ten bucks. That's probably ten bucks. So do I spend another 20 bucks?
on top of a 30 that I've already spent on the other parts if I
Don't try to get it running
Reliably, then this is junk
So I guess I'm gonna go do that. I think
