Can't tell if it's on or off.
Okay.
It's on.
My mirror's all wonky for some reason.
Because I breathed on it wrong.
But we air down our tires and
gosh, it feels a lot better.
A lot better.
Feels good to be in the breeze
cruising around Moab, Utah.
So there is not a whole lot of space.
Behind my back.
This backpack that I've been forced to wear
really pushes me forward.
So my knees are up in my tank bags, and that's irritating.
I'm kind of reconsidering how I've done my setup.
I think the way that Jay has done it with the
rock straps
may be a better way to go than a box on the back.
Because he just unbuckles it and takes it off.
However, I have like probably two times the amount of stuff that Jay has.
Simply for the fact that
I wanted to bring a tent
because of the clouds. I mean, it's gonna rain.
Thunderstorm rain style.
So I wanted to bring a tent and I wanted to bring
a sleeping pad and a full-size tarp.
You know, things that
really help in a pinch.
And Jay opted for the hammock route, which is totally cool, but
I don't know how nicely that, how nice that'll work out
in the rain.
Not super fond of the whole
having tons of stuff on my back thing.
But I guess it's imperative when you're taking a
long off-road trip like this.
Whoa, that's crazy down there. It's really cool.
Here comes the utility guy.
Hello utility guy.
I remember biking here in Moab when I was a kid.
When I was a wee scout.
And it was really cool.
Funny thing is I never remember being this hot.
That's a corner you don't want to go off of.
So here's the funny thing. We're only 12 miles out of Moab City.
I would say about 100 miles out is the point of no return, gas-wise.
I guess I don't have to look over there. I can just turn my camera.
didn't go,
we didn't go
on the big cool fatty trail
that's experts only down south of Moab.
We just went to Moab and then we have to start going north because we're short on time.
That was the part of the trail that I was actually most interested in
filming.
But,
you know, alas, it's not gonna happen. Ran out of time.
Time.
Be so nice just to have a month to just go mess around as much as I wanted.
But with
work and
school and
my brother's work and family
and all that stuff that's going on,
kind of
our plates are full.
Heard a really loud pop.
Just hope it's nothing falling off my bike.
There's a road here in the middle of nowhere. That's weird.
It's like, hey, we decided to pave this part, guys.
And then not pave this part.
And then pave this part.
Sorry, I don't have a lot of creative things to say.
It's just really hot.
Looks like we're finally getting into some trees and stuff, though. This is cool.
Ooh, a little sand.
You know, there is something about adventure motorcycling back here, you know, far away from everything.
The fact that
something goes wrong, you're on your own, you know.
At least until somebody goes by.
Which is, my guess, happens often.
But still, it's not like you can just
easily ride into town. You're in the middle of nowhere.
And
another thing is you're completely at the mercy of the elements.
You have nothing.
Nothing except for what you brought with you.
Which, maybe I went overboard with a mat and a tent and stuff like that, you know.
Maybe I could have just done it with a tarp and a sleeping bag.
I've done that before and it wasn't that bad.
