Rebirth of a Giant - TOYOTA HDJ 80 4.2 TURBO Engine Rebuild - Time-Lapse

"Dive into the heart of mechanics with this ASMR and Timelapse video that shows you the complete reconstruction of a Toyota engine... The 1HD of this HDJ 80 was out of service, a real mechanical disaster! Crankshaft out of service, broken connecting rod, it was time to take action.
In this video, I show you how I repaired and rebuilt this engine. No question of replacing it with a new one, the goal was to get it back into working order optimally and economically.

The crankshaft was so damaged that it was impossible to repair it. So I opted for a new crankshaft, as well as a new connecting rod. Fortunately, the pistons were in good condition, phew! I also took the opportunity to install a new oil pump, as a safety measure. Of course, all the seals and injectors were replaced.

For reassembly, I scrupulously followed the Toyota instructions, respecting the tightening torques and clearances. A meticulous work that allowed me to start again on a solid basis.

In the end, the cost of the parts exceeded €5,000, but it is still much more advantageous than a new engine!
