I'm going to try these little ignition blocks out.
Something new.
The things are really fancy.
Yes, these little ignition blocks are really fancy.
They really help when you light a fire.
They also smell really good.
Okay.
Let's continue with the insulation box for the chimney.
Hoppla.
Brain, brain, brain.
Well, there we have it.
The box is insulated.
Half of the chimney is insulated.
In any case, I put my hand in there
because there is such a small inspection hole
through which I can get there.
And it's really warm in there.
Actually, it's quite nice.
I hope that's enough.
I just have to put a little bit of cladding on the front.
But the piece of plywood that you see now
will be my entrance door
when I have to clean the chimney.
Hey, hey, hey.
Okay.
Two evenings.
Here's a nice lamb barbecue.
It's been a while.
It's been a while since I last ate
lamb from the Dutch oven.
So I thought,
tonight it's time.
That's what you get when you leave your beer.
Well, it's only around five o'clock.
Wait, wait a little bit
until the lamb is done.
I guess it will take an hour or an hour and a half.
I add the vegetables after about 30 to 40 minutes.
It won't take that long
until it's cooked.
But in this Dutch oven
it should cook really well.
Now I just have to hang up,
wait for dinner
and throw the fire.
Outside you can't do much at the moment
because it's pretty dark.
So basically just hang out in the cabin
and enjoy the atmosphere.
I might turn on the headlight
and the transparent Christmas lights
to get in the mood a little bit.
I have my TV here this evening,
so maybe I'll watch a movie too.
Let's see how I feel.
All in all,
it will be a relaxed trip
over the night in the cabin.
I have framed or insulated the chimney
and it seems to work quite well.
I just have to work a little bit
on the cladding of the future
access door to the chimney
because I want to be able to
pull the chimney out from time to time
and clean it.
I can't do that when it's completely closed.
It should work quite well,
but we'll know better
when it gets really cold
up to minus 40 degrees.
And I'm seriously thinking about
exchanging this cast iron wood oven
for one of the airtight ovens.
I'm going to install a flap
into the chimney
and then I can better regulate
the air supply with an airtight oven.
I might do that on the next trip.
Then I have to think about
what I'm going to do with this oven.
I'll keep it or I'll sell it
or whatever,
because I have no use for it
That looks wonderful.
Time to grow some vegetables.
M. Use it.
Here it's pretty full right now.
The weather is pretty mild today.
I think we have minus 10 degrees.
Mild compared to a few weeks ago.
The weather forecast says
that there will be pleasant temperatures
Hopefully there will be more snow.
It has snowed a little,
probably one or two inches
since our last snowfall.
But I would be happy
if there was a foot or so.
Oh yes, that looks wonderful.
Yes, the vegetables have grown well.
Now we tie it the other way around.
Oh, it's also beautifully done.
Perfection.
The vegetables are perfectly done.
The lamb is so good.
I did it,
also to think about the mint sauce.
Well, it's just nice and warm in this hut.
I think we have here
at plus 22, plus 23 degrees Celsius.
Outside it's actually quite mild.
It's only about minus 10 degrees.
But the moon is shining.
I think it's full moon.
It's not full moon.
It's already very close.
But as always,
with all the snow outside,
it's just very bright.
I'll just sit here
and enjoy the night.
I'll watch my movie
and then go to bed.
In this sense,
we say good night.
Time to make a coffee.
Hoppla.
There we have it.
Well, I had a wonderful morning
outside today.
Nice and fresh outside.
I think it's still
about minus 10 degrees.
The sunrise this morning
was beautiful.
I only noticed the last part of it.
So I'll just make myself a coffee
and then continue with the
demolition of the camp.
When I'm outside the next time,
I'll take care of the outdoor kitchen,
the pavilion and the roof tiles.
Let's see if I can get help.
If not, I have an idea
how I can get the roof tiles
alone on the pavilion.
Yeah, we'll have to see
how that works.
That's definitely the plan for next time.
Next time it will be a day trip,
but I hope it will be a whole day.
I don't come out in the middle of the day
and do a few little projects.
I would like to attach the roof tiles
to the pavilion.
Let's see how that works.
That's it for another night in the cabin.
As I said,
it was an excellent evening.
When I'm on the road next time,
I'll make myself
attach the roof,
so I can cook outside this winter.
I pushed that a little bit first.
I was a little worried about attaching the roof tiles,
but I think I've found a way
how I can do it myself.
I have trouble finding someone to help me.
Everyone is so busy at this time of year.
So I'll just try it with a half-timber
and if it works,
we'll just bring the rest up there.
When you're up on the pavilion for the first time,
I'm pretty confident
that I can just set it up myself,
attach it and anchor it.
And then I just have to set up the sheet metal.
I'll do that next time I'm outside.
I'm not going to set up the sheet metal myself,
but I'll get the half-timber
and prepare everything
to throw the sheet metal up
and then build my worktop.
And I would also like to build a few more cabinets.
I don't know exactly how to do that yet,
but I'll figure it out.
And then we can cook a little outside.
As always, if you've made it this far,
thank you and we'll talk later.
