Shall we? On the count of giving.
One, two, giving.
So we're here at Larrabee Studios today.
Yeah, welcome to my home, away from home.
Literally, you spend so much time here.
Can you tell us why this place is so special to you
and why we're doing this here today?
I have been recording at Larrabee now for over 10 years.
It sounds amazing, I love everyone here.
They've kind of become like family
and it's also five minutes away from my house.
I was gonna say that.
That's why I'm really here.
Today we're celebrating six of your songs.
I have six new earrings.
Mine are custom and they all have an earring back.
They're good. So we're celebrating them
all being in the Billions Club, which is so sickening.
It spans all the way from 2009 to 2023.
That's a massive span of time for someone so young.
That span of time says a lot more about my fans
than it says about me.
All these billions, if you just look at it as a number,
you don't feel much from a number.
But when you look at it as individual people
all listening to this music because they're relating,
they're resonating and that they fall in love with it,
looking at the music spanning from 2009 until now,
it really displays the loyalty of my fans.
Party in the USA was on an album
that was designed around a collection
that I had actually created for Walmart.
And now I'm the face of Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana.
So I feel like it really shows the evolution of my career.
It really does.
Doesn't it, for Walmart?
It's a Dolce.
How often have you been out in public
and Party in the USA has been playing?
Party in the USA plays a lot when I'm out in public.
It's kind of like the ultimate grocery aisle music.
I don't know if I've ever gone to a grocery store
and not heard it come on.
And sometimes I think it's cued for my entrance.
The door's open.
Boom.
Produce, here I come.
All right, moving on to We Can't Stop.
We had to stop. I've stopped.
When I was about to put out We Can't Stop,
I felt really confident in not just the song,
but who I had become.
And I was more just really excited
to kind of break that final bit of connection
that I had with Hannah and kind of create my own solo career.
And I knew that that song had the potential to do that for me.
But more than just the song,
it perfectly introduced the new me to the world.
And the sentiment of the song, the lyrics,
they were just perfectly aligned with my life at the time.
This is crazy, actually.
Wrecking Ball was your first number one single.
Rude.
What was the inspiration behind the song?
My man wasn't acting right.
True.
I never really stay highly focused on numbers.
I never know something is very successful
until I feel it out in the real world and a part of culture.
It was really when the video was being spoofed so much
that I knew.
It was pretty much when Jimmy Kimmel got naked on a wrecking ball.
I knew.
And then we had Nothing Breaks Like a Heart.
So Nothing Breaks Like a Heart is a unique era
because it wasn't my own.
It was from a feature that I did with Mark Ronson.
My favorite part of the Nothing Breaks Like a Heart video
is something that no one knows.
This room's gonna be gagged.
Mark Ronson is wearing a Tom Ford for Gucci blue top
that once belonged to Madonna and Kate Moss.
Look it up.
It's on the Ray of Light album cover.
So Mark Ronson shows up, I'm like,
girl, you're Gucci a little too tight.
Well, it used to be Madonna's.
Next in line, we have Angels Like You.
Angels Like You is really all about the fans.
It wasn't a single.
It didn't have an official video.
It actually was my first choice for the single of Plastic Hearts,
but it wasn't chosen at the time.
And the fans made it happen.
I created Plastic Hearts during the pandemic.
And there was a sadness and a loss and like a confusion.
Plastic Hearts was the end.
It was the end of the doubt.
And it was the end of me not fully leaning into the trust
that I have in myself today.
Flowers actually has over two billion streams.
She get two plaques?
Yeah, she get two plaques.
What is your most memorable performance of Flowers?
The only one that I've really ever done, which is the Grammys.
The ad-libs that I kind of threw into the song
were not what I had rehearsed at all.
Yeah, I was at your rehearsal, so I can attest to that.
I didn't know that I was going to win Grammys.
And so I only threw in, I just won my first Grammy
because I actually had.
Every time I perform Flowers, it's a choice.
And my choices are really important to me.
They really make me who I am.
A lot of rumors circulated after the video came out.
A lot of fans chit-chatting on socials.
The only rumor I can confirm to be true
is that the gold dress I am wearing
is museum quality from Yves Saint Laurent.
That is in an exhibition in Paris right now.
That's all I can confirm.
Do you have a message for the fans?
We need more plaques.
You're going to need two.
We need more songs.
And I need a longer hallway.
I am extremely clear
and fully understand that these plaques would not exist
without their loyalty and without their listens.
And they've always supported every project that I've done,
whether it was making an album like The Dead Pets in my garage,
which you may never see one of these,
but that's okay because they're some of my favorite songs
I've ever written.
And I know, and they know,
that really our bond is so much bigger than a billion.
That was it. That's the six.
And counting.
How do you feel?
I feel incredible.
And are we still having a sleepover tonight?
You know it.
I'm going to see you in five minutes.
Let's go.
Love you so much.
See ya.
